The Raiders have officially clinched 3rd place in the AFC West. Consider the difference in the 2010 schedule between 3rd and last place (2 variable games depending on finish):

3rd Place = Dolphins and Steelers
Last Place = Bills and Browns

Those 2 games could mean several draft positions for the Pats #1 pick in 2011. So if your dream draft in 2011 consisted of a certain LB from UNC, the odds just got a little better.

Looking at their schedule, unless they upgrade significantly to their roster, I see the Raidehs going 5-11 or possibly worse. That pretty much guarantees a top 10 pick. They still don't have a QB so they could wind up anywhere from 2-14 to 6-10, at best.

Here's the Schedule:

HOME:
San Deigo
KC
Broncos
Jacksonville
Tennessse
San Francisco
Seattle
Miami

AWAY:
San Deigo
Chiefs
Broncos
Houston
Indy
Arizona
St. Louis
Pittsburgh

Here's the Schedule:

HOME:
San Diego - LOSS
KC - WIN
Broncos - LOSS
Jacksonville - TIE
Tennessse - LOSS
San Francisco - LOSS
Seattle - WIN
Miami - LOSS

AWAY:
San Diego - LOSS
Chiefs - WIN
Broncos - LOSS
Houston - LOSS
Indy - LOSS
Arizona - LOSS
St. Louis - WIN
Pittsburgh - LOSS

I'm calling 4-12 or 5-11, should be good for a top 10 pick. Hopefully a few other teams suck next year so that it's no higher than 7th overall.

Regardless of what roster upgrading/downgrading the Raiders do in the offseason, the difference in the opponents for those two games is huge!

This is why the league MUST go to an 18 game schedule. Opponent fluxuations like this are unfair and probably cost us the AFC East title last season.

Every team in a division should play the exact same schedule.
