Position Requirements: Sure tackler, ability to excel in coverage in zone and also play a little man coverage against mostly H back/TE players as well. Strong communication skills needed.

Rankings:

1.) Barron - Alabama. Hard hitter with decent coverage skills. Instinctive and strong communicator. Can also blitz. Early to Mid Second round.
2.) Armstrong - Miami. Big body and fast. Not a great tackler. Third Round.
3.) Allen - SC - Big hitter, not the fastest player, not that great in coverage. Fourth Round.
4.) Smith - Notre Dame - Big body, decent speed, not the best in coverage. Fifth Round.


Sleeper: Ihenacho - San Jose State. - Decent size and skills but slow. Sixth Round.

Barron is the player I think will most improve our defense in one hit. Unfortunately, I also think he'll go in the first and we'll need to trade up for him - I can see him going anywhere from #17 Tennessee into the early second round. In my view, we should not hesitate to trade up and grab him. There are no OLB's or DL's that can be plugged in to this defense early and impact the D as much as Barron can.

BTW, Ray Ray has announced that he is going back to school.

I agree. Right now, it's early, but I like us drafting two 'Bama players in the first: Upshaw and Barron. I admit it's tough to envision both players being available where we're going to be picking, but 'tis the giving season.

I'm confused. Is Chung a free safety or a strong safety? I understand BB considers them interchangeable but this seems to be the weakest defensive position. Can Chung be healthy for a season? Do we need a run stuffer, cover safety or both?
