He was much better last year than the first round pick they kept trotting out in front of him in the depth chart.
Well the first rounder missed half the year and they wanted to work him in as he was getting up to speed and there is no way to get around that Meyers disappointed in the regular season after a good pre season. He was looking like another Chris Harper. It was a bad decision to give the first rounder who lost development time precedence over the guy who already disappointed. Then Meyers earned his spot.

Meyers had better stats in the 8 weeks preceding Harry's return from IR than Harry did from there on out. And yet starting 2020 Harry got starter snaps while Meyers saw exactly one target until Edelman got injured. It happens, it's not the end of the world, but not every player who isn't playing over a poorly performing starter is necessarily worse than he is.

Sure. But in that very specific case they had a lot invested in Harry and he had an injury derail him. It made sense to let the guy you got in the first develop and work. Especially when Meyers didn’t exactly light it up (also remember in those first few games Gordon/Edelman/Dorsett were taking pressure and coverage off him.

Stidham has just outright has been bad in every appearance
