That Offensive line is going to get Mac Jones killed !!! How i wish Coach Dante could be with us. Mac had a decent game yesterday even with the bad protection,,,some curious play calls and even more curious why Bourne didn't play until the 4th Q,,,that was a bad Miami team who beat us. Feels like 2020 all over again. Sigh

huh? miami had like 3 qb hits in the game. OL in humid 100 degree weather are gassed by HT.

Yes, and one of them led directly to a Miami touchdown, or did you miss the game?

I thought the OL was really good in the run game yesterday and pretty decent protecting Mac. He had a lot of time to throw but no one open downfield.

We are limited at LT with Trent Brown's inability to move on the run. But you have to live with that.

Mac Jones never even looked once to his left on the strip sack. He never adjusted protection.

Now, it might be they had everyone going right and the plan was to get rid of the ball quickly. But he didn't get rid of the ball, nor did he bootleg. So... he has to diagnose the blitz and change protections there.

He's a 2nd year player. A lot of the top QBs in the league took awhile to do this sort of thing. Josh Allen for instance.

Everything about Mac will improve if he can learn to read defenses better, adjust protections, and get rid of the ball quicker.

The OL was one of the positive signs from yesterday.

After a horrid preseason, we actually got to see them play as a unit.

Now, it is true that Cole Strange missed a key assignment which lead to a free sack, which killed the drive. That's on Strange. So they took him out. But it's his first NFL game and he missed an assignment

You mean the one where no OL could have gotten there in time without freeing up someone else, but the TE could have either chipped or called out an alert?

Did Strange miss the assignment? Or did Andrews and Jones miss calling out the shift?

Yes. Strange went out for a couple series and the O-line didn't do jack with Ferentz on the field.

In fact, I thought the line regressed when Ferentz was in there.

How about we just get a dedicated OL coach instead of using an over tasked and untitled OC in that role. Seems pretty straight forward.

Did strange come back in? I wasn’t even paying attention after seeing ferentz come in

That hit was not on the OLINE, though. It was on Hunter Henry not recognizing that there was no way for Trent Brown to get outside to the guy.

You're wrong, we went through this in the game-day thread. Henry was releasing into a pass route regardless, it was up to the OL to adjust accordingly on what Miami was showing and they blew it. Multiple postgame analyses have pointed this out, including from Matt Cassel and Christian Fauria. Also pointed out in-game by the broadcast analyst Adam Archuleta.

You’re only half wrong. The half you got right is that we went through this on the GDT. What you got wrong is that the GDT discussion also didn’t agree with you.

there were three Dolphins to the left (outside) of Brown. Closest to him was the guy he blocked, who would’ve had a free run unblocked to the QB if Brown changed his blocking partner. Next out was the DB covering Henry. Outside him was the blitzed, who was too far outside for Brown to have effectively blocked in any case.

I could care less what YOU went through in the game day thread, Tune. Look at where the Safety lined up. He's OUTISDE the DE who is lined up on Henry's Outside shoulder. There is no way Brown is getting out there to pick that up. It's not happening. The only way that Brown MIGHT be able to get BACK into position is if Henry CHIPS the safety to give Brown the time to slide back. As others have stated, for that to happen MAC JONES has to notice it and alter the protection.

Did you even READ the tweet that they were referring to? Fauria was quoting Ben F'in VOLIN. It was VOLIN claiming it was a Communication problem on the part of Brown. WTF would VOLIN know about it? Volin 8yr old's playing PeeWee Football know more about the game than Volin. There have been TROLLS on this board who have known more about football than Volin. You've forgotten more about Football than Volin has ever known.

Stop this nonsense. You're trying to rationalize what you saw on TV vs. what we DON'T KNOW in how sight adjustments work re. pre-snap assignments. You're also telling me Archuleta/Cassel/Fauria are wrong and that Brown had no reason to dodge questions postgame. Check the provided links then give it a rest.

Mac did not have a decent game. He has some culpability in line calls. I blame him for the strip sack.

If they took Strange out, and he wasn’t injured, then it’s very clear that he missed assignment.
