I encourage others to find more bad teams to send an extra draft pick or player to obtain some instant improvement for our Patriots-

My first two ideas focused on Defense since our O is in pretty good shape -

Ronde Barber - he's 31 and if Tampa loses this weekend they might admit to rebuilding and this high level, first rate citizen could be a season changing addition to the Pats. Is he worth a number one? Maybe not but his effect on Hobbs on Samuel would be significant for years to come and he could be the final piece to make us an instant SB team.

Keith Bulluck - a real longshot to be certain, but the Titans must be in search of draft picks with their rotten squad. TBC (yes, I know Bulluck is an ILB and TBC is an OLB) and our number one for this pure animal LB and we put him inside with Brushci and slide Vrabel outside. At the height of his powers at 29, Bulluck is a bit small but he's extremely tough and would just run wild behind our D-line. He's the anchor of the Titan defense but since he's nearing NFL old age they might let him go for a big price.

Interesting thread. We actually need to look at teams which are not just bad, but teams which are rife with discontent.

SF and Detroit are bad teams, but I'm not sure they are full of discontent. Houston and Tennessee are bad teams as well, but I don't know if they are looking to clean up shop. I don't think Tampa Bay has given up on the season just yet. Cleveland is a bad team but they are used to it. No signs of panic from them yet.

It would seem that Oakland and perhaps Green Bay would be the likeliest places to look.

Miami sucks but Saban is still cheerleading. I don't see them cleaning up shop yet.

Trade deadline is what... 4pm Saturday? I know its before week 6.

It ends on Tuesday.

Yeah, I took a peek at Green Bay's depth chart, Woodson and Barnett stand out (assuming Hawk is untouchable). But Barnett holds their D together and I would be shocked to see him go anywhere, which leaves us with Sir Charles Woodson. I can't decide if he's the bad dude or the superstar he's been made out to be. Not enough info. But if BB and Pioli decide his mind is 'right,' well, then I'd be excited about Woodson's arrival. All things considered, I'd rather see Ronde Barber end up on the Pats given his fine talent and hugely positive presence.

On Detroit, Roy Williams is the man to ask for, but considering how long Brady has taken to adjust to his new WR's, I'd think the team would look elsewhere before trading for another WR. Maybe Williams is the kind of player who can adapt faster than Gabriel and Caldwell, and if so he'd be a super threat on the Pats but he just isn't going to be traded. Dre Bly would probably help since he is certainly better than Poteat, Moreland, etc., but only if he came pretty cheap. He was an impact player not too long ago, maybe he could rediscover his form on the Pats. No doubt playing on a disaster team like the Lions just ruins your enthusiasm.

i dont think woodson and williams are goign anywhere....woodson was pretty much their biggest FA signging this year....brett favre said that he'd come back for another year if the brass upstairs could get some good FA's in....we all knwo about lavar arrington slipping to the giants so woodson was their, again biggest FA signing....woodson not only upgrades the terrible GB def. he gives more time for their cb's to develope...of course al harris does not need any time to develope but it'll help newer dbs like ahmod carroll and rookie will blackmon adjust easier....

harris and woodson at starting corner would mean carroll drops to the #3 cb, obviously, where he can work out of the slot in a nickel, dime and quarter def....

harris is also getting older so having woodson there after harris retires would help b/c it would mean carroll woudlnt be forced into the #1 spot...i give carroll 2 or 3 years for him to get really comfortable to become a #2 cb or #1 cb...or at least to the level at which harris and woodson play at

as for williams....williams is the only thing keeping any hope for lions fans in detroit.....there was a lot of hype into the "kitna to williams" deal in the offseason, and we see it now.....kitna found williams for 135+ yards in STL and GB......williams gives the lions hope for any kind of offensive production...and i'm not sure, someone tell me if i'm wrong but they cut mike williams and charles rogers so it would seem like a must for the lions to keep roy williams as close to the lion's organization as possible

the names being thrown out here are ridiculous. Roy Williams? Dre Bly? Nick Barnett? Keith Bulluck? Get real.
