My issues with Woodley at OLB are these: He opted out of Senior Bowl practices due to injury, but prior to leaving he had not shown well. He opted out of the combine due to injury. He chose not to run a 3 cone drill. He may have done this legitimately, or to conceal his marginal quickness before the draft and keep 3-4 teams intrigued by an unknown rather than turned off by a bad score. His pro day speed was reported by Gil Brandt 4.8 and 4.95.

He was neutralized vs Ohio St, where he did not show great closing speed, and especially USC vs. an NFL caliber LT. He lost 20 lbs last offseason to gain quickness and his natural build is a thick 275 +, which he will trend back to in the next few years, as is normal for players between 21 and 25. His game is similar to Daryl Tapp, who came on strong for the Seahawks late in the year as a 4-3 DE. Woodley's short area explosion and body type make him more suitable to 4-3 DE than OLB IMO. I think he can become a starter at 4-3 DE. It's a gamble at 3-4 OLB, especially in rd 1.
