I doubt Gay will be back...too much money out there..too few quality FA CBs...some team will overpay for sure...The Pats know what they are doing..Shepard might be one they think will want the mountains of money quickly..a new deal OR that Phillie wants way too much..whatever that is, the Pats will be OK. Maybe a lower FA as a 3rd CB..a trade? Draft picks??
