PFT: Cassel criticism creates controversy

Not to create a lot of controversy but I actually thought that Cassel did a
lot better this week. I think he stays as the #2. I thought O'Connell played
to his current level (rookie). O'Connell and MattyG will go to the PS and/or
be released.

Gutierrez, maybe. O'Connell, hell to the f*****g no. You don't draft a QB that high and hope you can slip him onto the PS, because it's not going to happen.

What other team is going to give him a roster spot? I can't think of any.

i think cassel hasnt been good but also i think the offensive group fails to respond to him as a leader on the field which i think makes him look worse.

BB has complemented players 2 hours before he cut them. If BB cuts Matt Tom is not going to look the fool, even if Sharpe tries to make it look that way.

I doubt Sterling Sharpe is trying to make it look that way. Sharpe offered his opinion on Cassel (which quite a few people share, including me), Brady defended his friend and teammate. That is what teammates do, at least on the record, up until the minute they are no longer teammates. Sharpe, I'm sure, being a former player, understands that.

Who doesn't understand this is Florio.

They'll give him a roster spot over their own 7th rounder they'll likely make their 3rd QB as it stands. O'Connell has a high upside and would have been drafted soon after the Patriots selected him. Unlike Gutierrez and Cassel, O'Connell's roster spot is all but assured.

If the Cassell issue is turning into a controversey then all the more reason that Belichick will cut him ... he's easily replaced.

We've seen the Sterling Sharpe is a tool thread. Even so, the silence of the "Chicken-Little" bashers around here over this article is deafening.

. for the three guys sitting in the booth, I thought it was unfair to criticize the way they were criticizing, because I don’t think they really knew what was happening.”

That says it all. Brady understands what's going on, he knows what BB's trying to accomplish, and he's probably watched all the game films 6 times more than Sharpe did. There's no controversy. Sharpe comes back and tries to argue football-Patriot's football- with Tom Brady. Too funny.

Good for Tom. No wonder players consider it a privledge to work with him.

Florio's just another media drama queen.

Faulk & Sharpe were acting like it was a regular season game on Sunday night. They were beyond horrible.

While Matt didn't look very good, the way Sharpe dismisses the fact that the OL is beset by injuries makes his opinion useless to me.

I'm not sure who said it tonight on the local news, but I agree 100%: "The Pats have treated their first 2 preseason games as scrimmages, while the opposition has treated them like real games."

"The Pats have treated their first 2 preseason games as scrimmages, while the opposition has treated them like real games."
Excellent point, and to add to that, let's consider the opposition:

Ravens: Team with a new coach that last year won 8 less games than the previous season.

Bucs: For the first time in ten years, no waiting list for season tickets. Fans not happy the team did not land a big name free agent or trade for Brett Favre.
