1. J Long
2. Dorsey
3. Ryan
4. McFadden
5. Clady
6. C Long
7. Gholston
or
1. J Long
2. Dorsey
3. Ryan
4. Gholston
5. Clady
6. C. Long
7. trade down with a team that wants McFadden or Ellis
Either way, it looks like the Pats have a very good shot at trading up to #5 for C. Long, so that KC can take Clady at #7.
Patchick,
Jay Glazer of Foxsports broke this story followed by Schefter then ESPN (As they're notoriously known to do) tried to scoop the information and give credit to Mort because of his supposed close relationship to the Tuna.
I'll take your word for it! Just to clarify, I was simply citing my source in the title, didn't mean to indicate any kind of scoop.
Glazer seems to actually break some of these signings before they go official, via his "sources" (Agents). Schefter seems to generally be the first to report signed deals, but we should remember that he works for the NFL, and the league likely gives him the contract details before anyone else.
Also, I've noticed Mort and ESPN try to claim credit for other stories, when they were obviously the second or third outlet to report the story. It's a somewhat pathetic tactic on their part, and I'm surprised they aren't called out for it more often.
Adam Shefter also. 5 years, 57 million, 30 million guaranteed. I guess I need to do another mock draft now.
OR lol
1. J Long
2. Dorsey
3. C Long
4. McFadden
5. Clady
6. Gholston
7. trade down to someone who wants Ryan(Carolina/Chicago)
I see dryheat44 sorta beat me to it. lol So under these trade down scenarios who are we targeting say in the mid 1st round range? CB, OL or LB?
Ever consider that Chris Long might end up in Oakland? I agree that McFadden is a likely choice, but I wouldn't rule out C. Long.
LOL, I had J. Long penciled in as #1 about a week ago. Who did you have going #1 instead?
With the expected move by the owners to opt out of the CBA there will be an effort by all the clubs to adjust contracts in anticipation of the fallout from that event.Jake's deal features around a $100K yearly avg increase over Russell's, and $30M "guaranteed" is actually a better deal on a 5 year contract, since he can enter free agency a year earlier.
OT: If I have the option of signing a player to a six year contract, I'm going to do everything I can to get that extra year.
I'm seeing it as :Well, I'm shocked.
This is great news for us. Best of all situations is if Atlanta takes Ryan, because that will push Chris Long, Gholston and McFadden down to us.
1. Jake Long
2. Glenn Dorsey (yup)
3. Matt Ryan (stated preference if Dorsey is NA)
4. Vernon Gholston (selected ahead of Long?)
5. Ryan Clady (or a trade down... to #7?)
6. Darren McFadden (would Mangini take Long just to spoil things for the Pats?)
7. Chris Long... ta-da!
I'm seeing it as :
Long
Dorsey
Ryan
McFadden
Clady or Ellis
Long or Gholston
Patriots - Long, Gholston or Ellis
