I became a Boston Patriots fan when Joe Kapp was QB. I think they were 2-12 that season (1970). In 71 they became the New England Patriots and drafted Heismann winner, Jim Plunkett, and things improved.

Joe Kapp was awful when he played for the Pats. He played for them one year and then sued the NFL. He won the suit and was awarded $1 because
the jury thought he was a greedy player.

awful?...c'mon Jim...the only reason you think that is because you thought he was supposed to be playing QB for the Pats...no one in theirright mind would ever think Kapp, throwing those end over end wobbly balloon ducks, wa1s the team QB...he was more of an offensive facilitator back...yeah, that's it...anyway...he should have sued whoever the barber was that cut his hair...anyway, I sued the producers of the 1977 movie Semi-Tough for making me sit through his "performance" as Hose Manning...and I won a 37 cent settlement....:bricks:

No, I became a fan in probably '83 as a nine year old kid. On divorced dad's Sunday's my father would take me to the Ground Round and we'd watch the Patriots games on the big projector. I'd gorge myself on slider sundaes and popcorn while he tried to teach me the rules of the game. Football's a hard game for a little kid to understand, but that's when I got my start - loved those teams with Cedric Jones, Tony Collins (sniff, sniff ), Stephen Starring...that team morphed into the 85 team and the improbable run to the Super Bowl...what a ride its been since then....GO PATS

I was at that game. Two of my hoops friends, not small guys, got jumped by thugs and put in the hospital while walking to the T post game.

I saw Namath's 1st game, an "exhibition" game in Lowell MA. He destroyed the Pats.

Saw Alworth (Bambi) play the Pats in Fenway park in a friday night game. Guy would get SO airborne. Looked like a man among boys. Too quick and athletic.

I think that Bills loss was in 1964. The crowd was lit for that game, I remember a huge snowball fight between the right and center field bleachers. Too bad about your buddies.

Namath was amazing early in his career. Alworth and the Chargers had Sid Gilman as their coach who many say was the architect of the modern passing game.

When Bill Parcells and Dave Meggett arrived. I was a life-long Giants fan, but I left NY with them and decided to stay, even through the Pete Carroll years. Boy, am I glad I did! And for the record, I hate the f*cking Giants now!

I knew nothing about football. I only thing i remember from that game is Teddy Bruschi playing with his kids before the game.

Next year i watched them play against jags and then i think Pats lost to Denver and still remember Brady saying in his press conf something like "you got to protect your quarterback".

That's how it all started..

In 1965 I had seen Jim Brown, and had why he was great explained to me (8 years old). In 1966 I started to watch and Jim Nance reminded me of Brown, so I became a fan.

Kim Hammond, Joe Kapp, Calvin Hill, Jim Plunkett, on and on and on. Ben Drieth, Fairbanks... all ancient history now that BB is running the show. Long may he reign.

'93 - Bledsoe's rookie year.

Never really followed or understood football until then, I was 19....not into sports at all until I was taken to my first pro game, Pats vs. Browns.

Fell in love with the Pats that day, have been a FANatic ever since. :rocker:
