Even Super Bowl V???

Actually, most of the early Super Bowls were lousy.

I looked up that game and it sure sounds like a sloppy stinker. Thanks for the laugh.

Can't say I remember it that well. I'm strictly a homer and an old AFL fan, so a Super Bowl between 2 old NFL teams probably didn't hold as much interest for me.

I just threw out that comment, but it certainly was the worst one in a while.

Can't remember a winning quarterback who matched R-Burgers stellar performance, for example.

On the NBC pregame/highlights show Bettis said we struggled against Buffalo and let a bad Jets team back into the game so our 2-0 record is deceiving. Finally Bettis said he doesn't know if the Pats can make the playoffs.
Says he, formerly of the team that struggled against a Miami team that went home and looked so bad against that Buffalo team.

Seems like we had to fend off the better team that first weekend.

Yeah, that's the way I felt at the time.

After that game, I caught a lot a flack from supporters of the old NFL with my comments on the game's basic stinkiness. The critique of my critique was, "Isn't it strange how all the old AFL supporters think the game was lousy, and none of the old NFL supporters do?"

This silliness ended when, after one such remark, I snapped, "Well, the only thing I can say is, it sure took Dallas long enough to get there, and it sure took Baltimore long enough to find out what it's all about!"

That pretty much ended it.

But yeah, that was a lousy game.

Just to please the Bus, the Pats should scrap their championship repeating philosophy, air it out and look like world beaters in week 2, peak as a team in week 10, get knocked out of the playoffs by week 17 and make funny TV commercials when other teams are playing in the SB.

The Bus is still upset that his perfect ending in 2004 was spoiled by who other then the Pats.

I was at the 96 season playoff game in 97 where the Pats started the trend of exiting the Bus onto the playoff off ramp.

I heard that comment on NBC also.

Jerome Bettis has been dominated by the Pats in so many important games. I can't imagine he'll say anything very positive of the Pats ever.

well said.
he has not yet forgotten the New England Patriots.

nice...

I wonder if Jerome the mediot feels the Steelers are unconvincing tonight....
