According to Pro Football weekly they are:

http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+Way+We+Hear+It/default.htm?mode=afceast

I have been thinking all along the OLT is the only position the Pats should consider in the 1st round other than DB and LB in the next draft.

On a positive note also, with dwayne Jarrett, JaMarcus Russell, Zach Miller, and Alan Branch already declaring for the draft and other top notch talent seemingly ready to, this is looking like a strong draft with some great talent being pushed towards the Pats' picks.

I don't know about that....they could draft a LT move Light to RT....I agree get some of those hyped up ESPN reel types and get the to the draft!!! The more the better as that will take other talent and push them lower...I LOVE IT!!

Getting a stud at LT would be nice and, as you say, it's a strong draft and we have lots of picks.

How do you guys think Light would do at RT ? Clearly he'd be a solid pass protector there, do you think he'd be an appropriate run blocker at that spot ? There's no room for him at Guard.

Light is one of those guys who is good enough to play with but not so good that you don't keep an eye open if you have a chance to upgrade. If a LT is available in the draft that you think will be better you draft him and let him mature behind Light. OL depth is never a bad thing.

There is no reason to stretch though in an effort to replace him.

Flipflopping the two tackles should make things interesting...

According to Miguels page, Light's cap # next year is around 5 mill. I'm not sure the Pats would pay that type of money for him if he was playing RT, think they could cut him?

If reports I hear are true, Light has been run blocking very well this year, finishing well - it is speed rushers that have been killing him

No. He'd cost $4.7M or so in signing bonus to cut and has an offsetting salary savings of $3.5M. Or thereabouts.

If so I am all for it.

The article says they may just flip Kaczur to LT, and move Light to RT. Sounds good.

While my opinion on this subject has gained virtually no traction at the board, I've been looking to move him to RT for years now. This year I've been mortified at his pass blocking skills.

Coming off an injury or just slowing down, I don't know. I do know that we need an upgrade more than any other position on the team. Why? Because it is our best player that is getting killed back there. I would put any other position on hold if we can protect Brady significantly better at his blind side. No question.

I just have to shake my head when people complement our O-Line. They are only as good as their Left Tackle, guys. He plays well every other game or so, but stinks in Dolphins and Bills games. That's four games a year that Brady could get knocked out of football for good.

but what about the rookie RT O'Callaghen - he is a road grader, largest OL on the team but bad foot work - wonder if Dante can teach him to dance with the Devil in the clear moon light?

Kaczur is not exactly setting the world on fire. I would like to see an UPGRADE to protect Brady, not a somewhat lateral move. Hopefully they get it about extending Brady's career being more important than drafting another TE or project WR.

Hopefully, Kaczur and O'Callaghan enter the off-season healthy and are fully able to participate in the conditioning program. Kac should be stronger and more agile for it and O'C may get some weight off and improve his foot speed. Light also ended last season on IR, he too would be better for some off-season conditioning too, especially when it comes to holding his weight - look how thin he was after the appendix incident the year before.

End the season healthy, get some good conditioning work in during the off-season, and open up the competition in Camp - seems like a good deal to me.

I don't like the idea of moving Light who is making LT money over to RT. I would rather trade Light away, draft a stud LT and then use either Kaczur or O'Callaghan at RT.

They make replacing Light sound so easy. How easy was it last year? And all the years before that?

Pick a lower pick in the second round like the Chargers did with O'Neil. Or go ahead and draft a stud in the first round. Availability changes with each draft, but they are out there.

Really, Light is not setting the world on fire and never has.

There are other O-Linemen out there.

Sorry to double post, but I'd like to mention just about the only left tackle upgrade the Pats might have gotten for a good value these last couple of years was Jason Peters, who the Pats must have scouted because they selected Cedric Cobbs from the same school (Arkansas) in the late fourth that year (2004). Roman Oben was traded to the Chargers by the Bucs in 2004 for a 2005 fifth, but he is at Matt Light's level, adequate.

Peters ended up going undrafted and was signed by Buffalo of all places. He was on the roster as a blocking tight end in 2004, switched to right tackle in the off-season and played the season at that position, was hailed as a young up-and-comer coming into this season and was eventually switched to left tackle for Wayne Gandy after Buffalo's bye. The hearsay I've heard is that he's given up two sacks in his career to this point.

Peters played tight end next to right tackle Shaun Andrews (now a Pro Bowl right guard with the Eagles) at Arkansas, which tells you something about his natural athleticism (listed weight 320). Reasons the Pats might have passed on him to draft the likes of Cedric Cobbs, PK Sam, and Christian Morton were that Peters scored very low on his Wonderlic (9, where Pats lineman average a very high number, and offensive lineman in general do well) and that Peters was adamant coming out that he wanted to play tight end in NFL, only later switching to tackle when he realized he could make more money at that position. Obviously the Pats are not allergic to dumb but devastating blocking tight ends (Daniel Graham) or tight end to tackle conversion projects (Tom Ashworth) but maybe the low score and the other thing were indicative of an existing attitude problem. He certainly seems to have his head screwed on right now however.

That's it. One tackle I can think of, from three years ago, that the Pats had a legitimate shot at and that would be an upgrade over Light. Where is this shiny new left tackle going to come from if our lowest pick is 24? Maybe Box is right and a full offseason of body work will be beneficial for one of Light/Kaczur/Britt, but otherwise, even assuming we are blessed with a shrewd selection of a physical freak like Peters, that's (at least) a two year process before Light's out of the starting lineup.

I also can't see them moving Light over to RT over an improving (hopefully!) O'Callaghan when its being rumored he's having trouble maintaining adequate weight for the more agile left tackle spot.

None of the three have been healthy continually through their pro and/or college careers at this point. Matt has been playing for several years now, missing time here and there, and from a performance point of view, he is what he is. O'Cal has had a very interesting injury chart. Kaczur has not exactly been a rock.

At some point the need to protect Brady overwhelms anything else this franchise does, including playing musical chairs with oft-injuried linemen.

Light was a lower pick in the second round, and unless you take a very big chance on an injured player like McNeill you'll be lucky to wind up with a left tackle of Matt Light's caliber. I.e. you might wind up with an Adrian Klemm.

Sure, there's other O-lineman out there, but they call those lineman strongside tackles, guards, and centers.
