Pats TE without Gronk could be good.

Not great, obviously and no one in the league has a comparable TE to Gronk.

But this is the reason we got Chandler. If Asante or Fauria are decent move TEs, we've got an immense blocking TE in Williams who can also catch in a possession situation.

Chandler was a good, dependable receiver with Buffalo and he should benefit from the extra work and is a good red zone target.

An instance where looking ahead for depth pays off IMO. Outside of CB, I see adequate depth most anywhere week by week.

We shall see. Hope you're right.

Anxious to see how Williams works out at RB or on ST ........ Harper is on PS getting more seasoning...

Oops..talking TE's....Nevermind

I think if the move tight end works out, we'll have an average to good TE corps. Remember, Graham was supposed to be almost as good as gronk. Who has three effective TEs in terms of blocking and receiving?

Gronk by himself is better than the whole TE corps of most teams. This is a league where we got an athletic 6'5" 320DT for a third string TE with almost no mobility who wasn't a great blocker.

Hooman has 6 TDs in his 6 year career. Chandler has 20 in the last five years and he's 3 inches taller.

Gronk is the best TE in the league, and by him being so good it put Chandler out of position and made him suck. Now that Gronk is out Chandler can be put into his normal position, and while not come close to Gronk, be a lot better.

Michael Williams is also hurt.

The three TE set is 6'8" Scott Chandler, 6'5" Asante Cleveland and 6'7" Joseph Jules Fauria. Those are three tall wicked pissah pass catchin' wild men. Look out!

My point completely. No one approaches gronk and, though Chandlers had the yips, he has consistently caught balls at an 11.5 ypc rate with lots of touchdowns in his career. I think we'd agree that Williams is a massive blocking TE. Can we get a move TE out of Cleveland and Fauria occasionally? If so, that's at least average in this league.

You couldn't have looked worse than LaFell his first time back but guess what? with some work he loosened up and started catching the ball.

I doubt both those move TEs stick on the roster. Williams would be in the three tight end set. I think you overrate the TE talent around the league, lots of first rounders have busted, not to mention average 2nd and third TEs.

This is the forum who would have cut LaFell, Amendola and Edlman at one time.

Let's throw to A$ante Cleveland!

Did I spell that right?

Chandler on the boundary not so good, put him inline and let him hit those seem routes. I am really interested to see how Fauria does as amor TE in this offense. He is a pretty fluid player, more like a lanky oversized WR. I have a good feeling about this and if we can have success more the better for when Gronk gets back. We might be on the verge of a new Mega TE paradigm. Couple that with the midgets during a playoff run, and boom. Pain in the arse to defend.....

Williams is questionable, like a bunch of others. practiced limited every day.

Chandler is an ok TE that looks bad compared to the GOAT. Let's see how he does Sunday.

On Chandler,

I think he, like a lot of experienced recievers coming to Patriots, has to get adjusted to the velocity and way TB throws balls. That could account for a couple of his disappointing drops (but not the ones where he doesnt even fight for the jump ball types).

Overall, like a lot of us i think, i expected a bit more productivity in the snaps he has received (# seems ok). If Gronk is out, we'll see if he can step up at all- im not expecting alot.

Aside from passing, i think our TE's are good at blocking which should help the run game.
