Question - when someone like Slaughter is signed off season and then cut a few months later. Does he just get a prorated portion of his I assume vet minimum salary. Then if he is resigned the meter starts up again at whatever he left at?

He gets nothing, except whatever part of his workout bonus he earned. He doesn't start earning his salary until the regular season. It's divided into 17 equal game/week checks.

Seriously? I would have been extremely disappointed if Slaughter made the team. It would have spoken poorly of Belichick's talent evaluation of other acquisitions and rookies.
