Pats RB match Elliott

Another point.

Patriots rarely have a draft pick in the area that would allow us to grab a player with Elliot's potential and other teams would over pay if/when a rookie contract is up.

Know who else matched Elliott? E.T.

My point? I have no idea.

We are more than fine w what we have. EE is better, but (1) if he gets hurt, they are screwed (2) he is running behind an amazing line (3) we need to stop looking at the what the neighbours have and start appreciating what we have. Cause what we have is rings.

Is Dallas really screwed with Alfred Morris and Darren McFadden as backups? Even Lance Dunbar can give you some catches out of the backfield.

The only questions I have with EZ E is his ball security (which is decent) and how he handles playoff pressure. Will he try to be a bit more cautious with his running style.

Blount has 5 games of playoff experience and fumbles once every 150 carries this year. Gotta love the ball security he has,

Just my opinion. "Yes" they are screwed. I think Dallas has a limited offense and EE's Big play ability/threat IS something none of those backups have ever proven they can provide.

No question their chances of winning go down. EZ E is pretty special.

I just can't believe Morris and McFadden are THAT washed up.

They are both under 30 not terribly overworked and are a season or two removed from 1000k yard seasons.

Plus that o-line moves piles.

1000 means much less over 16 games than what EE did this year. I guess I'm not going all "game day thread" over Morris' potential to ruin a gameplan. If EE isn't there : I look at controlling Dez & see what those RBs can do.

Honestly, even with the rookies' great years, in the playoffs I would be more concerned with the teams with proven QBs at the helm.

Point is they were good running backs that produced with 200+ carries that the D needed to respect

Clearly going crystal ball here but IF NE plays DAL I would assume BB will focus on stopping EZ E. How not sure. IIRC leading up to SB38 BB and RAC got into it with BB wanting 5 in the box to start and RAC lobbied to play 3-4 and make Stephen Davis & Foster prove that they can run on them. They had a couple of decent runs but they didn't go wild.

If he were to go down, then you'd see a ton of 3-1-7 packages. Make Dax beat them thru the air.

Yep, Elliott is probably better than all our backs at running the football, but what we have works pretty damned well for our offense, and for what we have on our OL. I like the pass catching abilities of White and Dion more than Elliott.

The big picture is that outside the run game, we have the GOAT QB and a pretty good stable of receivers.

Either way, I'm content.

I thought the original point was that BB was able to establish a great RB game (running+receiving) that produces among the best in the league without any draft investment (except for Thuney if you include OL) and minimal FA investment (Donald Brown - that didn't come into play anyway) .. in the face of fatal situation at both positions last year.

Everybody expected big investment & reshuffle at RB and OL in the offseason .. BB did it his way .. trusting his players and coaches.

The biggest difference is that Elliott faced eight men in the box every single down. No one respects prescott's ability to throw. That Dallas o Lin is just that good.

I think that's the key - the OL. Sure, Elliot is very talented and fun to watch. How many Dallas RBs looked great while playing there and then got their payday and were disappointments for their new teams? That line makes all RBs better.

Demarco Murray? Julius Jones?
