Pats get CB Aqib Talib from the Bucs !!

2003 was Washington
2004 was Traylor and Wilfork

Yep.

They might have gone to a 4-3 when Washington missed a few games withe the broken leg.

Is anyone else concerned that the Patriots brought in an all-around bad guy? Ochocinco, Moss, Haynesworth, Dillon- the issues with these guys were mild compared to Talib. Talib is nearing Pacman Jones territory here.

HUH? Nearing Pacman Jones Territory? Why? Because he's kept his nose clean from any law issues for over a year now?

You do realize that all the "issues" with Talib resulted in no time spent in jail, yes?

Just in terms of "winning at all costs", I hope that the franchise does not begin to dig up the scum of the earth because they are desperate. Frankly, when the Jets beat us in 2010, I felt the sting was much less because we had a great group of guys while they were infested with real-life dirt bags like Cromartie, Holmes, and Edwards. I think there is a difference between locker room cancers and guys that show up in the headlines for violence and overall danger to society.

I'm planning to make my 1.5 year old daughter a big Patriots fan, and whether they win or lose, you can always be proud to be a fan of Mr. Kraft's franchise. I really don't want to be explaining to her why one of her favorite players assaulted his wife, got a DUI, fired a gun at someone, or punched a cab driver in the head.

I realize that our perception of a lot of these player is skewed, and in reality most of them are not saints, but I think the Talib signing is out of character. This isn't like Alfonzo Dennard where a kid makes a mistake... this is a 26-year old violent criminal who has been given everything he needs to succeed but is a rotten person. I feel like we just made a deal with the devil.

Who is with me???

You are WAY out in right field on this. WAY out in right field.
Talib has never his his wife. He's never gotten a DUI. Yes, he supposedly fired a gun at his sister's boyfriend, however, the story is that the boyfriend actually was threatening her. The incident with the Cabbie occurred when he was 23. And the incident with his teammate occurred at the Rookie Symposium when he was 22.

You seem to be way over-reacting on this.

And that week, he was on the Injury Report with a wrist/hand issue.
Meanwhile Sebastian Vollmer underwent off-season back surgery, was placed on the PUP list, and has been listed questionable every week this season with back issues.

Guess you missed some differences. Edelman is in his 4th year, EVER, playing receiver.
Edelman's production has regressed as a wide receiver since his rookie season.

Seriously. Do you ever stop to think before you post stuff like this? You're comparing apples to oranges.
Do you also realize it was Julian Edelman that injured Aaron Hernandez?

What's up with your vendetta against this kid? Did he grope your girlfriend in a nightclub or something?

I think that we need to understand that Myra Kraft is gone. One starting corner is able to play because his 2nd drug suspension had ended and the other because a court this week decided to allow him to delay his assault trial until after the season.

Personally, I don't think that these players would have been acceptable a couple of years ago. Times have changed. That being said, we do have a great organization, and both these players are on very short leashes; no further issues will be tolerated.

It is instructive that in Tampa Bay the reaction is to celebrate and wonder why it has taken so long to get rid of Talib. Obviously, all 32 teams passed on Dennard for 6 full rounds and some on the seventh, pretty impressive for a 1st round talent. Make of this what you will. For me it is clear that our standards with regard to character issues have changed dramatically.

Dude's gonna play CB and hopefully hit some people really hard and make some plays. I don't care if he's a choir boy or whatever. This is just football, it's simply entertainment, that's all it is. The dude's not running for President, he's just playing football. If some guy from the Taliban could be a shut down corner for the Pats and help them win the SB this season, I'd probably be all for it...no lie, seriously.

Spoken like a raiders fan or a bengals fan; yours in their philosophy.

Nobody is challenging that fact. We're all challenging the relevance.
Thru the first eight games of the 2012 NFL Season, it hasn't been Julian Edelman's season so far. Based upon the aforementioned statement, I projected a wide receiver corps for the 2013 New England Patriots.

Breer tweet:

Some analysis of the Talib trade bordering on comical. Let's call it what it is -- A dice-roll by Patriots and a bailout for the Bucs.

Very true.

It's not his season because he accidentally was involved in the injury of another player? Gosh, Sammy Morris always sucked, then.

Heck, it could work out great as the case with Ted Washington in 2003, coincidentally for a fourth round draft pick, or flop like Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson in 2011.

We won't know till the end of the year..but give them credit for trying even if he sucks it up. If he is great..then good..maybe they will keep him..maybe not. Any one have a list of FA Cbs this upcoming year? Any good ones?
