Pats front office at the deadline

Didn’t we just give Dugger the most $’s we evah paid a safety and now, just 8 games into the contract, we’re looking to trade him after our “second” best safety gets arrested and suspended?! Anyone else have concerns with our new front office??
I have a lot of concerns regarding the Front Office and Coaching Staff. My only concern with Drake Maye is that he makes it through this season healthy and uninjured, as I believe he can band will be not just a legit QB-1, but a Franchise QB.

did that article really say marco Wilson is getting trade interest? Get his ass outta here then!!

Possibly jon jones- be tough losing his leadership but if the pick is decent you should
Jones will be 32 next season. We have our #1 CB in Gonzo. Get a decent #2 CB (Marcus Jones can play Slot CB), and a True FS (2 were there to be had in FA in 2024 who were both just in their Mid-20's, and they passed on them both and neither would have broken the bank).

Damn

It wouldn't make any sense for them to. He's by far their best player. They also aren't a total dumpsterfire and could very feasibly add the right pieces next year and be back in the playoff hunt. Especially with it looking like their division is going backwards as the 49'ers come back to Earth and the Rams are in cap hell.

Getting rid of him is throwing in the towel and committing to a rebuild and telling all the players looking for longterm contracts to look elsewhere.

It's mostly talent. If some of our receivers can make routine catches and the line isn't a total wet tissue, this team has a respectable record right now.

Defensively the Jaguars, Texans, and 49'ers games were the only bad scores we let up. And even then a lot of that was our offense not staying on the field and killing our defense.

There are coaching issues that can be worked on. But a lot of it is just that our players are generally going to be out matched on most plays. Especially on offense.
Assuming Barmore and Bentley are healthy, athletically this defense is excellent... top tier. Part of their 2024 decline has been the injuries of their two best players, but another major part has been coaching, scheme and adjustments.

The special teams needed a kicker, I should give Wolf kudos for the Slye signing. I always liked him and he has a strong leg. Then again, Chad Ryland through five games has hit 91% of his field goals and is perfect on extra points... so he might have done the same here.

There's a difference between talent and execution.

We're seeing poorer execution across the board on defense and special teams, less discipline and smarts... that's coaching. Special teams has looked excellent when they haven't committed penalties. If they were just lacking talent, I'd skewer Wolf for the job he did there as well but that's not it... even of they could have drafted and signed better free agents there as well... they had the money.

Offensively they look better because it had become a collaborative clusterfck over the last two years and at least now all the coaches are rowing in the same direction with the same system and the best QB they'd had since 2019... the offensive coaching has still been sub-par NFL offensive coaching and coordinating.

And I don't even want to skewer the coaches entirely, not everything they do is bad, some is good... but you win and lose as a team. This has been a collaborative effort of "suck"from front office to coaches.

In a collaboration, everyone is to blame, and nobody is to blame... and the guy really in charge won't get fired because he's the owner's son. Either everyone improves at their jobs or heads will roll eventually. The NFL stands for Not For Long... and you can't hide shoddy work in New England, especially not after we just watched 20 years of military precision.

They aren't Calvin Johnson but I take offense to you calling them 2s.
Call them #1 slot receivers... but fans don't give slot receivers enough credit either.

They think of super weapon WR's as outside guys primarily... for better or worse.

I would offer a blank check to Ben Johnson or this may not be as popular but I think Joe Brady will be a really good HC.

I would also welcome Mcdaniels back.
His love for New England can’t be denied, and his success as an offensive mind.
With and without Brady.
I agree about Josh McDaniels. He was a great OC throughout the years with the Pats, yes he had the Goat. But now he would have Maye and that ain't no bad thing. Come on Kraft do it, you know it makes sense .

Henry would be a top flight guy if he was a complementary piece to a true #1 receiver, regardless of where that #1 receiver lines up. And I include any position who catches passes that the defense has to say "we aren't letting X beat us."

Bingo, but they've got to fix the line first to allow Maye to raise up these middling JAGs they have now.
Yes. OL is top priority. Once strange comes back whenever that is. I'm curious to see where he plays. LG? C? Even though Benny Brown had a rough game Sunday I still believe he has a place on the OL he's played well last few weeks. The X revcier is crucial. Having the guy DC focus in on helps the entire offense. It's been lacking here for years. Having thar guy and I'd say add a slayton at WR would vastly improve at the skill positions. So OL upgrade, adding a Higgins and slayton would be immense.

Wilson sucks! Walking Pass interference call. Jon Jones no! He's needed, guys, so needed here. I think it is a forgone conclusion KJ and Tyquan are gone.

Yeah I saw a couple sports blogs.
I’d check off Corner from that list.
we need another top corner next to Gonzo.

Today is a momentous day that will impact all of our lives.

Wolf needs to make the right moves.

Teams don't give up WR1's for no reason, including letting them get to FA. If a team is going to give up a stud receiver on his second contract, it is because he is no longer a WR1.

The NFL trade deadline is almost always a dud. It's very rare there's a splash trade for any teams.
Traditional thinking is that teams don't look to add players at the deadline because it is too hard to bring them into the system mid year. Since this season is shot, the Pats have the luxury of using the rest of the year as an extended training camp. Wolf should be looking to bring in under performing players at a bargain rate to find a couple of diamonds in the rough.
