Pats claim WR Michael Floyd

His numbers definately took a slide in 2016, but then again, Carson Palmer isnt doing all that well either. Might partly explain why

Considering this is his last year on the contract and we are almost done with the season, anybody saying it's too much money is a fool.

Zero cap implications

It's just Bobbys money so who the hell cares? Hope he gives them SOMETHING.

Zero risk here
I thought NE was responsible for about 1.5 m dollars, since he had a cap hit of over 7 m dollars this season?

Awesome. I can't wait to see him play.

Yes, and that was only the straw that broke the camel's back. Prior incidents going back to being suspended and losing his captaincy in college. Looks like a chronic issue. Wish him the best, but not easy to turn off this type of behavior.

"No first round pick? I'll show you first round picks!"

Yeah, he had 3 reported alcohol incidents in college and I believe this was his second as a pro. That's a significant history. I hope he can avoid additional episodes and help us.

I'll be the first to admit, I don't quite understand how comp picks work but if Michael Floyd leaves, wouldn't we get the comp pick now? So worst case scenario, we are trading a million bucks for a (3rd round?) comp pick? He was the thirteenth pick in the 2012 draft...

Put me in the what's not to love camp, because what's not to love?

--This is one of the reasons the Pats are careful with the cap. If they want to make a move, they can. Who cares about the money? They've got it, and it's only this year.

--Assume anyone who brings up the DUI is kidding. Lesson learned, fresh start, blah blah blah.

--You just KNOW there's 31 other GMs getting calls from their team owners around now...."So Belichick thinks he's worth a claim, but you don't??" Ouch.

--Can he help? Maybe. Be fun to see. Good times all around.

Wow. That's a lot of dough for half a year. They must like him. If he could put it together, though, he would be pretty damn good.

Edit: not even half a year really... three games and then the playoffs

And the playoffs are league-mandated salaries that come from the NFL and don't count against the cap.

Some of it is on Palmer, but the 13 drops are on Floyd..

Exactly.

Malcolm Floyd will be WR4 in this offense. That is what you call a luxury

If he sucks or starts sucking down Jack Daniels in the parking lot hes gone.

Worth the risk.

Down Gronk. Amendola out with a bad ankle till the playoffs and seems like it is still a question on if he will be back.

No clue why anyone would be against a 6' 3" WR who has shown he can play in this league. I mean of course you can have Griff Whalen instead. Me, i'll take Floyd

Cards season tix holder for 8 years.....Patriots fan since 1960.....

This is a great pickup. He has had the drops all year...but he has gotten open,,,,,consistently.....great skill set and his teammates like him...not a cancer at all....the drops just came this year....nerves from the contract year or too much booze...i don't know.....but we will find out i guess.....well worth the risk.

I am still shock that other teams didn't put a claim. Team's like the giants or even the steelers. Giants offense has been struggling

Apparently Floyd is on a pure salary no bonus deal. Pats would owe about $1.3 mm for three games.
