Everyone keeps perpetuating this myth… that Mac’s strength is decision making and his problem is a weak arm or his weapons.

Really... based on what?

Throwing back across the field not once, but twice last game... after getting away with it once. Does he think these defenders are dumb?

He throws high arcing back shoulder throws when he has WR's (Parker, Douglas) running free behind the defensive backs for easy TD's.

He throws 50/50 balls where only the defender can get them (Parker, Gesicki).

He holds the ball when he has receivers streaking free in front of his face.

He still misses free blitzes because he doesn't slow down and scan the field one last time before he snaps the ball, missing defenders who have crept up late on the line.

He runs out of the pocket when there is zero need to, or when stepping up in the pocket and making a throw to an open receiver would be more prudent.

He steps to the line and rushes his cadence or can't keep it consistent, so his own players are fooled by his hard count. He runs a ragged sloppy operation.

So where is this good decision making? I think that is a byproduct of the file on him exiting Alabama, but we haven't seen that player here.

We've seen a guy who needs a third and 3 to keep a drive alive, then throws thirty yards downfield out of bounds instead.... dumb, not smart decision making.

But blame the weapons...
@Wozzy that is spot on I'm not looking for perfection from Mac I am looking for a capable QB like the new Jared Goff. People think Mac's ceiling is Kirk Cousins not even close. Mac's decision making is overrated it's now his Achilles he's dumping the ball off at every opportunity check down Mac. I think our WR's are more open than we think but we have a QB that can't make all the throws. You cannot throw ducks against Myles away Bryant who is a average NFL CB you surely won't against a Corner that is above average. This ain't Alabama Mac some of those CB's you were throwing against ain't even in the CFL that should tell ya.

Mike it's pointless arguing anything on Mac. Here's what I say. Let's see how the season goes here on out. If he looks like he did in Dallas wich I doubt he will.. then to @Wozzy and @PatsFan2 thier points then Mac is the issue.

I'm looking at the eagle eye view. It starts up front. If the line can continue to settle and open up running lanes then play action is back in the offense. Mac thrived under McDaniels becuase he was in play action all the team as teams had to respect the run game. Mac is good enough to lead this team.. he has 3s and 4s as his weapons and he pretty much has to make spaghetti with no sauce.

No matter what happens Mac or zap this season we can all agree as posters thier projects to be significant changes come the off season.
It's been mentioned before why aren't we running more play action?? Being in the Shotgun makes the QB see things a little quicker but Mac processes things too slowly...look at this throw from Tua to Berrios below: Mac can't make or is scared to make that throw. My point Berrios ain't better than Parker - Juju or Bourne but he made that pay. Again I think our WR's are more open than we think Mac needs velocity on his throws to stick em in not FLOAT them till kingdom come.

McDaniels is not losing to Mac 10 that I guarantee.

He should've lost to him last year... Besides, the Faidahs are this close to a complete implosion; nothing they do now or in the near future will shock me (except beating KC). Then again, Chip Kelly was a Dead Man Walking into Foxborough in 2015...

Skippy the HC like Tua the QB is undefeated against the GOAT of HCs.

Oh really let's wait on Mac Geno Smith...BB have another five years. The Cardinals went from Rosen to Murray in a year three years is more than enough time.

And did that result in a substantial change? No.

Only one out of the next 4 seasons was a winning season.

I see your point. Again my friend. This is a McDaniel offense with Tyreek and waddle in it. Elite, elite speed. Everyone is open. Tua in my opinion his arm is no stronger than Mac. He's actually left handed wich does give him some advantages. Barrios was an afterthought in NY.. he signs with Miami and all a sudden he's making crossing routes against us all game and others.

Even if guys are open wich they rarely are the interior pressure limits Mac abilities to step up. Resulting in Mac having to improvise and he's not Allen or mahomes so he can't throw across his body like that. The running game, the running game, the running game....I'll keep saying that becuase that is ehat this team is..BB built a 2003 roster in 2023 NFL. If we get rham going then Mac can thrive all day in play action.

I would love Murray over our current.

Real: Mac have poor pocket presence it's not always a jail break Mac's inability to evade pressure is what's killing us. Some guys have it some guys don't Mac panics at the sight of pressure that's why Teams Blitz him so much it's to get in his head. IF a regular fan like me can see that on TV what do you think an NFL DC sees??

I'm not in disagreement with you my friend. If our line wasn't so bad the last month then yes I can say he has poor pocket presence. I don't believe he trust what's around him. Like he's expecting the pressure to come. He's not Zac Wilson.. Mac will stand in there and take hits.. we are a bottom line roster, and bottom offense right now.. not a lot of game planning DCs need to do right now.

He could look better against the Saints and Raiders horrible defense and still not be good.

Last season he got better at not turning the ball over for a while… all it took was the Foxboro crowd chanting for Zappe to take his job. It didn’t last.

Mac's thrown 2 TD's in the last three games. He's tied for the third most turnovers in the entire NFL this season.

He turned it over last year also, and after week 13 in his rookie season. He seemingly always has.

If Zappe plays well, there doesn’t have to out of the norm changes next season… or if Mac has some come to Jebus moment.

Cutting a QB after just 2-3 years if he doesn't become the next Brady is how you get to be the New York Jets.
You don’t have to cut Mac to start Zappe, you just prepare and start Zappe.

It's apparent what Mac needs.. everyone on here knows it. Wether people choose to realize it is another. What we currently have are complimentary guys. Be fair to the kid get him an Alpha IMO.
The Raiders have Devante Adams, they’re 22nd in scoring and JimmyG isn’t thriving.

Derek Carr had one of the worst statistical seasons of his career last year when they went out and got him Adams. They had Waller, Renfrow, Josh Jacob’s already… how does this “#1/Alpha” thing work again?
