What is the issue you see with CB depth?

I think we are in better shape there than most NFL teams, and most other parts of the roster.

we have Gonzo and the Jones gang (Jack, Jon, and Marcus), Isaiah Bolden, Bryant, the Green Goblin.

Even Mac was trying to get into the action with the scout team the other day. How many CBs do we need?
Marcus isn't an outside CB, mills has converted to safety and likely won't be playing at CB unless pressed to do so.. besides are you confident he cant stay healthy? Isaiah Bolden yeah I'm with you.. but who knows how the final roster cut will go.. he could end on the PS.. just never know with BB and how he handles the roster.. we still could use at least one Vet at outside CB.. this is the NFL guys are always knicked up.. otherwise I have no issues with our group it's the depth that's all at outside CB

OK, I agree. I expect Flowers to be on the 53, and to be ready for Game One.

That being said, I think that Flowers would be an excellent signing, even if he were not expected to be available until Game 5. Signing him simply removes doubt, and makes him part of the team. BTW, personally, I would sign him to as long a contract as he is willing to sign. He is currently under 30 and is a major talent.

Say whaaa...?

As this topic is a day old could I just ask a question....

With regard to tomorrow's game against the Texans..... is it unusual to go straight into a game with a team but not have joint practices first ?
There will probably be a simple answer but I don't see it !!....probably does not matter anyway.

I should also have said.....joint practice and a game with the same team (not just a game alone)....no probs thanks for replying

Don't know for a fact but I'm sure that still happens: While listening to Moving the Chains recently, I heard someone mention that, until this very week, Seattle had Never conducted joint practices with Any other team, Ever! Surprising if true... These joint practices are actually a relatively recent phenomenon anyway; I don't remember hearing/reading of them during the First Dynasty years...

I want to see my Binky Tank Dell tomorrow night really wanted us to Draft him.

69th overall was way too rich for my blood, same as Little Nicky did in 2022 with John Metchie.

We have needs at OL, CB depth, the flowers signing doesn't nothing to improve or impact the team.

I'm going to disagree with you. You clearly didn't pay attention to the DE/LB position last year. Other than Uche and Judon, they didn't have anything. Jennings has barely shown flashes and Perkins was injured. They clearly played Wise MORE than they wanted to to spell Judon and Uche.

The Flowers signing gives them a veteran that can spell Judon and Uche as well as Wise. Yes, they have White, but he's a rookie. Jennings and Perkins haven't exactly lit things up, though Perkins is coming off an injury year and did have to learn a new position.

The Pats are actually 5 deep at CB. Gonzalez, Jack Jones, Jon Jones, Marcus Jones, Jalen Mills. They also have Bryant, Bolden, Speed, Randle, and Mosely. Bolden and Speed are projects, but Bolden has actually taken 1st Def Practice snaps. WTF more do you want? Seriously?

Other than FLUKER, there isn't anyone to possibly add for an OT that would be an improvement. They don't need more OGs.

Yes, the Patriots are dealing with a few IN CAMP injuries on the O-line and BB made the choice to give David Andrews a couple of vet Days off. . But none of the injuries are so bad that they put people on the IR.

Try being realistic instead of pessimistic all the time.

Marcus Jones played Outside Corner just fine in college. He regularly went up against taller WRs and won.
Jon Jones proved he can play outside as well. Just not against a guy like Diggs.

I'll agree on the veteran that spell judon, but is that a glaring need? O line depth is the Chief concern.. the O line is the most important part to the offense being able to function.. can always pick up guys to help out at on the D line there is always someone on the O line that can help. At this point availability is the best ability

Hmm try being realistic instead of pessimistic all the time?.. have you ever tried it?

2 things…

I rarely see pessimistic posts from Real Fan 02.

I don’t see Perkins making the 53 in any way.

They can continue to evaluate and search for options at OL while also continuing to improve the team in other areas.

Doing one does not mean putting a stop to the other.

I'll agree.. however I'm just pointing out our needs are more glaring on the offensive line. Of course BB knows this. So we'll see how it goes going forward..

You know something.. I wonder how many use the eye test when they watch NFL games. I know I like to use the eye test myself.. how did the Offense look, how did the D line look. Was the QB under heavy pressure all game?.. things like that.. it's easy to Google stats up.. but sometimes is good to use the eye test to gadge. We have a head coach that's been doing it 40 plus years..

It was done occasionally in the old days but it was Belichick who started the modern trend. Coaches and players raved about how great they were and everyone started copying the Patriots.
They're more helpful for the 2nd and 3rd preseason games than the 1st. By then your own players are tired of going against each other and practices aren't being maximized because both offense and defense knows exactly what the other is doing. Going vs. a different team always rejuvenates everyone and gives you a better gauge of exactly where you are.

Context is important and stats rarely show that. A trained eye helps a lot to evaluate...agreed.

Exactly. Things changed when they lost a preseason game. Used to be week 4 of preseason games was tuneup for opener, weeks 2 & 3 were evaluation, and ideal for joint practices, week 1 was just establishing tempo and beginning the cutdown evaluations. Vets and starters would play a little more each week to work into being ready for the opener. Now everything is compressed into three games, so evaluation time is more precious and joint practices provide additional data.
