Patriots TE production through week 8

No, but if Bill hadn't signed them, people would be *****ing that he didn't address the TE situation. I can't speak for Jonnu, but it definitely feels like the playcalling is moving away from Hunter Henry.
It‘s Hard to understand imp why we the offense cannot properly involve the TE in the passing game, Every qb likes a mismatch weapon as big as a TE
I am betting it is the offense scheme coaches whatever

TE involvement and production was great with Zappe, Mac has to be more like Zappe and spread the ball around.

I am convinced Mac is scared to throw those moons balls over the middle that's why the lack of targets to our TE's. Really tired of those Jonnu Smith screens even Ray Charles can see them coming.

Mac has missed his TE’s, RB’s and other outlet receivers in the flat and taken unnecessary sacks. He’s made the OLine look worse than it really is.

He’s thrown too many moon balls when a laser throw is required, ran out of the pocket in a panic when it was unnecessary and made questionable decisions all season. He needs to do better, the 2022 season depends on better QB play.

I don’t think its qb related only, Talent and scheme issues have an influence as well or do you think mac is not able to hit a target as big as a TE on a short route in the MOF?
Mac can make every throw in the book. All your best NFL QBs can and he is no exception.

He was a 10 win Probowler last season and a mention as a 2021 Super Bowl contender. Losing a great OC like Josh Mcdaniels has set Mac back. Patricias play calling is not working and resulting in turnovers.

Mac can't throw a seam route or really all that well over the middle of the field.

some people are so dumb. To actually suggest Mac can't throw deep middle passes, or CAN'T physically throw any pass needed in a pro game. It's looney. He's done it, he's rainbowed beautiful passes on the deep sideline, he's fired 30yd shots on a line. That's not the issue, he wouldn't be on a roster if he couldn't. Don't forget how accurate he was on a few of those passes even week 3 before the injury. Every issue this year is about the lack of complimentary offensive play, design, protections and of course, playcalling.

Stats speak for themselves:

Henry 15 receptions, 1TD, Salary 10 Million
Jonnu Smith 13 receptions 0TD, Salary 8.3 million

There must be a way to get these guys more involved in the offense. It seems like they are rarely targeted and so defenses do not give them a second thought. I had thought that these 2 would be nice safety valves for Mac....
Did Bill really sign them to generous contracts to be blocking all the time?
It seems like the plays now are’t designed for our highly paid TE’s…I blame the coaching. Skippy fully involved them and now what?

/shrug

The TEs were properly involved with Zappe. If the plays aren't designed to involve the TEs, why was Zappe throwing to them? I am a Mac supporter because I believe Zappe is too limited, but Zappe involves all receivers and Mac does not seem to see the whole field. Looks at Myers A LOT. Let's hope Mac settles in and starts seeing the whole field.

Jonnu Smith just isn't any good and he never really was... terrible FA signing. I'm blaming Henry's decline in production on Patricia's play-calling and Mac's regression.

Patricia called the play to Meyers.

Judge likely put his 2 cents in too.
Mac is staring at a wide open Henry at the first down maker. He’s the QB and once that play begins everything after that is on him to make the right decision.

The Patriots are at fault setting Mac up to lose.

One of Macs best 2021 weapons in Bourne hardly plays for no good reason. BB replaced a qualified OC with an Engineer. Then they give Mac a more difficult offense. The offensive line is awful.

Meyers should have turned around and headed for a TD. Mac is always thinking big play. Meyers is at fault. Trade him.
