Patriots sign K Shayne Graham

I do not like this. Graham earned the nickname of "Shank" during his years in CIN. He is actually the last person I would want to attempt a game winning kick. I think I would trust Welker more than "Shank". But, maybe a change of scenery might help him.

It's only until Gostkowski's back to normal, or sooner if he stinks up the joint on Sunday.

This signing is going to really hurt the Pats more on Kick-offs than it will with field goals.. There is a good 7 yard difference in kick off average between Graham and Gostkowski.. The coverage unit is going to have to be lights out..

I wondered why Welker was kicking off against the Browns. Why not Mesko? Hes supposed to have a huge leg. Why cant he handle kick offs?

Might be something he is not too good at and welker being the man who can do all stepped up and said he would take care of it and they can have zoltan practice them all week. Welker made the extra point wished he could have kicked for the lions rather the Suh we would still have been top of afce then

Graham's a decent kicker, but a loser as a person. He showed up at my brother's college a few weeks ago to party with coeds and was hitting on freshman and sophomore girls, bragging about being an NFL player and such (even though the only reason he was there is that he couldn't get a job).

Keep in mind he's 32 years old.

Wow! That has never happened before!

Thats great..no really, I think thats great. There are probably a lot of 32 year olds hitting on college freshmen..and las I checked, college freshmen are legal

It's interesting to me that kickers and punters don't cross train so they can fill the other's role in case of an emergency. The back up QB could be the holder. I mean come on, kicking is kicking.

Or maybe some do.

The backup qb could be the kicker

I see no issue with this provided that (i) he is single and (ii) he scored.

The real question is, did he go for one or a two point conversion! :singing:

He filled in for the Giants in week 6 this year and there were no issues to report. I consider that a positive that he can to a new team the week of a game and acclimate himself with the snapper and holder.

If those freshman & sophomore girls were drinking adult-flavored beverages at this party,
and were at least 18 yrs old, then they should know what the deal is.

Depending on the state..some states legal age is 17. Some may be even lower.

I forgot that Box's binky Ohrnberger was still on the roster. See below for the cases for each of the options. Ohrnberger seems like the best choice to go.

LOVE
He is not needed as a backup NT with Wilfork and Warren both there. Also, there are one more than the norm regarding DL's. We have Wright, Pryor and Brace as backups.

OHRNBERGER
There is one excess interior lineman now that Mankins is playing. It seems that Ohrnberger is at the bottom of the pecking order at C and at OG.

OJINNAKA
He is the #3 or #4 OT as well as being a backup OG. This is the kind of flexibility that
Belichick likes.

WENDELL
He's a one-trick pony, but is our best backup center.

LEVOIR
If one of our OT's were out for a game or two, LeVoir would likely start as he has in the past. I think of him as injury insurance, although Ojinnaka may be a better choice to be active on game day because of his flexibility.

Great breakdown; I agree with the list of candidates to be cut.
My choice: Lil' Richie OBurger, followed by his fellow undertalented midget twin Wendell.
I don't know if Wendell has any PS eligibility, but OBurger still does, so it seems
that the logical move would be to release OBurger and see if he passes through waivers,
though I'd rather that Bill admit yet another draft mistake and just "move on" from Lil' Richie
and keep Tom Austin on the PS as the developmental interior lineman.

I'm not thrilled with Graham either, but if the decision came down to Graham or Shaun Swisham,
then I'd go with Graham too.

Didn't Matt Stover kick for Bill in Cleveland? I'm a little suprised that despite his age,
Bill didn't choose him instead.

I completely, wholeheartedly agree.

Some did indeed perform both duties while in college, e.g.: Gordon Gano (Skins)
and Pat McAfee (Clots), and both were avail. during the '09 draft when Bill took
the late Jake the Snake(bit) Ingram.

If the Zoltan is truly worthy of being considered the Most Interesting Man in the NFL
(and of his 5th-round, 150th overall selection), then he should - easily - be ready, willing & able
to handle both KO & Punt duties, and maybe even long-distance FG attempts.

If the girls want to play what's the big deal...
Are you serious? Any 32 year old guy who's still partying with college kids has serious maturity issues. I can't believe you just said that after everything Roethlisberger went through this offseason. Do you think with your mind or your reproductive organs?

I mean, wouldn't you feel just a little awkward being 12 years older than everyone there? Can he not find people his own age to party with? I think it's pathetic, not something to root him on for.

The fact that it's "happened before" is exactly why he shouldn't be doing it. I'm all for my fellow man getting laid, but come on, use your brain for a minute here.

just because you hang out with them, dont mean you have to rape them. If they are 12 years younger and want to get down with him..thats their choice. Why do you care so much?

98.5 The Sports Hub just reported that Gostkowski is done for the year (IR).

So along with being a very good kicker in Pittsburg he is also the Steelers QB's soulmate.

There's a big difference between hitting on co-eds and sexually assaulting them, no?

No, it's his choice to party with them. Of course they want to hang out with a guy in the NFL, even if he's just a kicker. I don't blame them at all. But how can you not question the guy's maturity or at the very least, his intelligence?

And it's not so much that I care about HIS behavior, as it is that I'm amazed at the number of people who think it's fine or even a good idea. I just can't believe you can be that stupid after everything Ben Roethlisberger went through this year.

If you think it's worth it, then you don't understand how the system works. You can't legally consent to sex while you're intoxicated. It doesn't matter what you say or do that night--if you say you were raped the next morning, when you're sober, and you can prove it, then someone is going to jail and getting listed as a sex offender for the rest of their life.

There are certain things you can't do when you're in the NFL--and at the age of 32, this guy would be completely embarrassing himself, and he'd be off-limits for the rest of his career. Look at what happened to Sauerbraun, and all he got was a DUI. I question the intelligence of anyone who makes these kinds of decisions.

I hope I'm not partying with drunk 18-20 year old girls when I'm 32. I'd feel like a loser, especially if I was in the NFL.

I just can't believe you can be that stupid after everything Ben Roethlisberger went through this year. All it takes is hooking up with that one girl who was a little too drunk that night and all of a sudden you have possible rape charge on your hands.

Explain to me how that's worth it.

well first of all, Ben is a pile of sh*t so F him.

second, I think girls crying rape after hooking up with a guy is a rare thing.
