:woohoo:

EDIT: Miguel - "Presuming" Billy was re-signed to a 1 year vet minimum, with a modest signing bonus, is there an advantage for him to do that and collect a bonus vice taking an RFA tender? I'm "assuming" RFAs cut before the season starts would get nothing.

More good news. I thought Billy did a grand job for us on the few occasions he was called to arms in 2006. Good work fella.

Yates follow-up

One follow-up item regarding offensive lineman Billy Yates, who was scheduled to be a restricted free agent this offseason:

Yates's representatives and the Patriots reached an undisclosed contract extension before Thursday's deadline to tender offers to restricted free agents. The agreement was confirmed by Yates's agent, Steve Endicott, although Endicott did not provide specifics.

That helps explain why Yates was not listed on the NFL.com page that details all restricted free agent tenders.

Yates, who enters his fourth season in 2007, was paid a full salary ($425,000) early last season despite starting the year on the practice squad. He was activated to the 53-man roster in October and appeared in four games, with three starts at right guard in place of the injured Stephen Neal. He adds depth on the offensive line at the center and guard positions.
