How good is this defense. Here are some stats from 2001-2016. Make your own conclusions.

To make some sense out of the figures, I found it useful to combine the PPG position and Yds/G position together. 2003 is often quoted as our best defense but 2006 and 2007 look as equally good. Patriots really lost a good chance to win another SB in 2006 when they lost to the Colts in the AFC Championship game. Colts went on to win the SB.
