Ty , great as always. Ok 20mil in cap space if they were to sign HT and Butler this year, but how would such big deals look like in 2018, 2019 as pertaining to cap space ?
I imagine a Brady extension might open things up even more? Maybe they just give Brady 45 million this year with a large accompanying cap hit so they can carry JG in the future.

Maybe the Patriots like to give themselves financial flexibility to capitalise on unforeseen opportunities or perhaps they'd like to rollover cap and improve future positions?
ditto!
2018 cap situation is not too comfortable. This is from Miguel if they would sign High & Butler at Gilmore contract:
Note: In 2017 they have 64 players at some 138M . (& without Dola restructure).
There's no Solder in 2018, no Edelman, Lewis, White, no Cooks option or extension, no Ealey.. and of course no Jimmy G.
Of course there will be restructures, probably TB, possibly Gronk, D-Mac etc. but Id guess they'd like as much flexibility as possible entering another challenging offseason..
After (hopefully) Hightower I expect they'll be pretty conservative . and I simply don't see how they can sign Butler to 10M+ long-term with 35M+ already appointed to the secondary alone.
