Correct about the loser crowd. I am still waiting for Brian Holloway to be nationally celebrated for all the obstacles he amazingly overcame, without being an *******; but because he's a Patriot is of course still denigrated by the media [see NYT]

Was he bipolar as well?

I'm not sure if he had dyslexia, but his high school guidance counselor told him to forget about ever attending college...he went to Stanford. We drafted him in the first round in '81. In an unforgettable live TV interview in the '85 preseason, when Bob Lobel asked him how team was doing, he famously said, "We're pissed off..." at a time when people did not say or hear that publicly. That team finished the season in the Super Bowl.

I remember Holloway very well. Never forget the locker room scene after they beat the Raiders in the divisional in 85 and he came in the locker room crying like a baby overcome with joy.

Overcoming bipolar, dyslexia, etc is a big deal. Good for Brian to work on ensuring it was not going to get in the way or realizing his potential.

Meh it all depends

Still Cowboys. Win or lose, people talk about them. Either hate or love them. People either hate or love the Patriots now because they are good. If they went a few seasons without playoffs, they wouldn't be talked about as much.

Just being unbiased here. Cowboys have history. When you think of baseball you think of the Yankees. When you think hockey.. Montreal Canadiens. Basketball..Lakers or Celtics. Football.. Cowboys, Steelers or maybe Packers.

America's Team is a nickname for another team. Let's get our own.

...what're you lookin' at?
=Kraft's Team

For football , those teams now but the question will that be different 20 years from now if NE has 2-3 more SBs?

I could see us being similar to the 49ers, where our profile decreases a bit after our dynasty fades away (hopefully that won't be for many more years however). I think the Cowboys and Steelers both benefit from being in states that are football hotbeds outside of the professional game. Obviously the 49ers are in a state that has some football schools with rich history, but they tend to obviously be located in the southern part of the state.

Tough to say really. Regardless, what the Patriots have done is amazing. 4-2 SB record in a fifteen year period. Constantly putting great teams on the field. Doing this in a salary cap era. Brady hasn't had his own Irvin, Rice, Swann his whole career to work with. He's done it with Caldwell, Patton, you name it.

The Cowboys started the same year as the Pats and haven't won squat for many years. The Pats may get to that point at some time, but haven't yet.

When I think of the Yankees I think of them stealing the name from New England and winning by spending more.

When I think of the Canadiens (the early teams) I think of a team with the rules set up in their favor.

When I think of football I think Pats first, 49ers second and Steelers third. The Cowboys never enter my thoughts.

And when I think of basketball I think of the Celtics and the greatest single player in NBA history, by a country mile btw, Bill Russell.

Our mascot is a patriot and we shoot guns when we score ACOURSE we are America's team.

Here in South America for sure !! For example here in Brazil every 100 ppl 16 like the Pats, after that 13 like the Packers and 11 like the 49rs. Patriots have the biggest fan base in 13 states here( we have 26).

America's Team. Team of the Decade. The Dynasty. Whatever you want to call the best team of our time.

You can tell it's the Pats, when Bills fans tweet like they won the SB, denying it was a team without Brady.

Only great teams have opponents preparing like it was their SB.

Reasons why the Patriots should be:

1. We are the New England Patriots.

No elaboration necessary.

2. We have overcome more obstacles than any other franchise to exist, survive and ultimately win.

From the humblest of origins, we continue to this day to struggle against ignorant, unjust and punitive oppression not from across the pond, but right here, within our own borders.

Reason why we aren't:

We have an owner who, to this point, has not fully understood, accepted as fact and done something about his ascribing respectability to his fellow owners, which to anyone paying attention at all the last fifty-six years is unwarranted.

What can Bob Kraft do? Now?

Retracting his apology of April 1, 2008 and acknowledgement that we did anything wrong might be a good start.

I don't have to say what the other thing is he can do.

Kiss the Flying Elvis, or you will be put to the rack, burned at the stake, and beheaded.

--------Well, that's never gonna happen, Babe.

As you wish, peasant.

--------I've got something right here that you can kiss, pal.

"America's (most hated) team?" I think that's probably more appropriate and that's just fine with me.

The Patriots of the Belichick era are the Green Bay Packers of the Lombardi era, only better and for almost twice as long.

The Pats are still slightly behind the 49ers in length of dynasty, but they're closing fast. The Pats are at 16+ years and the 49ers had 18 years (that's counting the 13 years that Rice cheated) of SB level play. They only missed in the short season of 1982.
