ESPN is owned by ABC which is owned by Disney which has more money than God. They aren't going out of business.

According to one report HALF of Disney's "value" is ESPN. This report, for example, said ABC is valued at 3.2 billion while ESPN is valued at 60 billion. Of course this is an estimate (trying to place value on the parts of Disney) but I'd be surprised if it isn't in the ballpark. ESPN's income from compelled carry fees is MASSIVE. 60% of it's revenue is carry fees.

IMHO, whether you like ESPN or not, you have to give them credit for this one aspect. It may be legal highway robbery but to have a business model where multiple millions of people who couldn't care less about ESPN (they are complete non sport fans) and many millions more who watch them only very occasionally still enrich ESPN to the tune of an insane amount of money.
