Patrick Chung's wallet just got lighter

Hmm, was expecting more for Miller.

I don't wish Pats players to inflict injuries on other players, but some of these fines are ridiculous. I wouldn't mind if the Pats added in an extra $100k to Chung's next contract so he doesn't play differently and shy away from clean contact and clean hard hits

Greetings,
I agree Von Miller's should have been higher, but the Chung hit made no sense at all. I remember watching it live on TV and saying "Very late hit". The play was clearly over so it was no reason to him it all.

if that was for the late hit its BS

its NOT a late hit, should NOT have been flagged...why? because the ball carrier still have ONE FOOT IN BOUNDS by the time that chung dove for him

dont believe me? go back and watch the play...intention to go out of bounds does not count as being out of bounds

Personally I find it disgusting that some one such as Welker can be fined $10k for wearing a hat during a press conference, and Miller gets a lesser fine for a violent cheap shot.

If I were in charge of the league I would be embarrassed.

My HDTV is malfunctioning because it showed Chung late to the play clearly (1080i) hitting the player who had been driven out of bounds. A stupid play by Chung who EARNED the fine.

That said I'm astounded that Von Miller's fine wasn't several times Chung's. Heat of battle miscalculation vs deliberate intent to assault. Clearly the NFL execs are morons. Apologies to the numerous Patsfans morons whose thread topics I read here.

Sometimes hits are worth it as tone setters.

What I'm getting a little sick of is the selective fining of players already penalized in game. I can see if you're repeatedly penalized for the same thing, be it headhunting or what kind of started this with the horsecollars by that Cowboys player who made them his trademark. Miller on the other hand should have gotten a stiffer fine. Maybe if they'd done that with Suh early on he'd have come to heel. Miller is a DROY candidate and they get the kid gloves early on for marketing purposes, which is a mistake. What he did was just frustrated punk crap. What Chung did was heat of the battle. Didn't somebody horsecollar Branch in that game? That's as dangerous as helmet to helmet or defenseless receiver...

My only problem with the flag/fine on Chung is earlier in the game (3rd play) Gronk clearly got hit out of bounds and there was no flag and obviously no fine. Gotta call it both ways.

out of the 3 guys, he was the one that got his butt whooped. I guess they took it easy on him. fair enough.

ive seen the replay multiple times, (i may still be wrong, but unlikely) the bronco was being driven out of bounds, at the point when Chung hit him, he had NOT placed two feet out of bounds

I freeze framed it at contact. Mcgahee has his right foot out of bounds (toe is just touching the line) and his left foot is hovering in the air over the line, or on it's way over. It's absolutely a questionable call so I'm with ya there. But after just watching it for 10 minutes the Ref never say's a late hit, he calls it unnecessary roughness. Everyone including Reiss and Simms just assume it's a late hit out of bounds. One of the angles they show the slow-mo and Chung definitely connects with his helmet so maybe that's what the fine is for.

Nope he didn't, but he had one and thats all you need.

It's bs. Why wasn't a flag thrown on Denver when Gronk got hit out of bounds in the very first series. I think it was his first catch on the sidelines.

10x more clear cut than the flag thrown on Chung.
