Patricia brings Evan Rothstein with him back to Patriots

Its all very funny this Rothstein business.

In all fairness, the guy never DCed a game in his life until Patricia called him up vs Tampa and Brady. Sure, Patricia probably had a plan for Rothstein to follow, but Brady figures those out in the 1st quarter in games vs guys who have been plying the DC trade their whole lives.

If Rothstein can fix this NE WR and TE problem, he will be worth his weight in gold. Nobody else has been able to figure it out.

A whole bunch of assumptions and the guy hasn't done anything yet, he is coming from a historically bad team/org. Give him an opportunity in this environment and then judge him.

There is an underlying tone the BB does not know what he is doing. Selective amnesia?? Many of us are forever grateful for the last 20 years and things will get better...

BTW Rothstein was a "quality control assistant", who assumed the D Coordinator coaching position for one game when COVID-19 kept the regular coaches out of a game.

Enjoy whats left of his life without ridiculous 80-100h work weeks ?

Why do you assume that he has no other interests he could pursue except football ? Most people are not that one dimensional.

Savants like BB and Ernie are just wired that way. They have no other interests outside of football. Sure, they could try to start a new hobby or something, but it would wear off pretty fast. BB likes to spend time on his boat, but I guarantee you football is on his mind while he's steering through Nantucket sound.

Ernie is almost 68 and doesn't have any longevity milestones to chase like Bill does. I can't really blame him if he decides that he doesn't have another five years or so in him.
What's Ernie going to do?
Retire?
Sit at home with the wife?
Spend his days rearranging the hidden cameras in house?

Maybe he can crunch some numbers and coach up some people...

He ain't gonna go back and forth with Ernie Adams and do math problems on a whiteboard.....
He can play catch with the practice squad like the last "GM" did

This is the biggest thing right here. Not only was he thrust into the DC position for that game due to extenuating circumstances, but there's a big difference between knowing a defense from a theoretical standpoint and being able to call a game flow when you have 15 seconds between plays to do so. Add in that he was facing a guy who can make GOOD, EXPERIENCED defensive coordinators look like amateurs sometimes, and you get what you got. Using that game as some proof that this guy has no value to bring with him is as silly as saying Kyle Van Noy had no value because he underperformed while playing for the Lions. If there's one thing Belichick is supremely good at it, it's putting people in the right role.

Also, with Patricia back, there are at least 4 coaches who would call defensive plays (including BB) before they'd have to resort to Rothstein.

Your Honor, I'd like to call Cam Newton to the witness stand

I'm not sure you should use the words "rothstein" and "fix" in the same sentence, the Pats could lose another draft pick!

IF you remember Stidham somehow had a hip injury and at the time the "pickins" were slim.. so he did what he did, and unfortunately there was not a fall back position except for Cam.. in this case it was low risk, low reward.
