Here is an interesting Ranking of NFL coaches from 2001, Can you believe what the said about BB, It sounds like this guy got his info from Tom Jackson.

Best - Jack Del Rio
Worst - Herm Edwards

There was alot of Canidates to choose worst coach, but trying to find the second best coach or the guy you would want to coach the Pats if BB wasn't here wasn't that easy.

Good Question, and thanks for the list.

I'll take
Best- Jeff Fisher
Worst- Mike Nolan, although I like the suit not on Del Rio though, he looks like an undertaker, but then again he probably does that for effect.

Come on. This was before Belichick had any success, how can you blame him for ranking him that low.

30. Bill Belichick, New England Patriots. His players don't like him, the media doesn't like him, and his inflexibility is tiring. So why is he back running an NFL team? It's because he's a great defensive coordinator who is from the Bill Parcells' tree. Belichick is a much better coordinator than head coach, which the Patriots will find out.

It wasn't the Ranking that bothered me, it was the comments that I found amusing.

Hard to argue with Herm being the worst. What sucks is I would have said going into the playoffs last year and maybe still would have even going into the Super Bowl that it was Coughlin- and then he goes and outcoaches Bill in the biggest game in franchise history!

Gotta move Coughlin up now damnit.

Best: Jeff Fisher

Worst: Herm Edwards

Bill Belichick - God

Tom Coughlin- Good Coach

Herm Edwards- Bad Coach

Eric Mangini- Ingrate

Tom Coughlin defeating Bill Belichick in the most important game of his life gave him instant God status to me personally.

Tom Coughlin defeating Bill Belichick in the most important game of his life gave him instant God status to me personally.

Especially considering Bill had the better talent.

I know the Tom Jackson part was a joke, but that whole incident occurred in 2003, which was 2 years after this story.

to me, the only fair way to evaluate NFL head coaches is by production as measured by Conference Championship Appearances and SB wins. I say this because the Coordinators play so important a role (see "Coughlin and Spagnuolo") that the HC should be held accountable for making the entire enterprise work on Sunday, week-in and week-out. there is only one way to evaluate this: just Win, baby.

So, I'd put Dungy, Holmgren and Reid at the top of my list.

At the bottom? I'd put Edwards and Mangini.

As for who I'd like to see coach the Patriots if BB left the team, I think that's a different question, given the organization's goals and the team's chemistry. Of current NFL coaches, I could see Jack Del Rio fitting right in. Oddly enough, after watching him closely in New York over the past few years and after watching him orchestrate the SB upset, I think Tom Coughlin would be a good fit for the Patriots, also given his historical connections to Belichick and Parcells.

Best Coach: BB and nobody is even close.

Worst Coach: Tie between Lovie Smith and Herm Edwards

Both Lovie and Herm REFUSE to make obvious adjustments and their football teams lose games as a direct result of their stubborness.

Worst Coach: Marvin Lewis

Best Coach: Romeo Crennel

Other than BB at 30, Pete Prisco isn't that far off......one blemish on an otherwise good list.
