I didn't say every Big-10 school is a powerhouse but you seem to not realize that football schedules are made years (if not decades) in advance. Who knew in 1985 whether or not Purdue and Michigan State would be good or would be creampuffs in 2006...? So you are ignorant to suggest that ND is deliberately scheduling easy games.edgecy said:Just because ND plays a Big-10 school doesn't make them powerhouses. Example: Michigan State. The flaw of your logic is that you think just because a school is usually good doesn't make them good every year. Example: UCLA, Georgia Tech (7-win for the past 4 seasons), Purdue (5 win last year, 2 7-win seasons in the last four years), Penn State ( with the exception of last year have been mediocre for the last 3 seasons)
Navy is their one annual "gimme" that they've been playing every year for over a half century. This is the first time they've played Army in forever. And North Carolina and Stanford are the same as Michigan State and Purdue... When the schedule was made 20 years ago, there was no way to know if those schools would be good or bad in 2006.edgecy said:Why don't you talk about the other teams I had named? Army? Navy? Air Force? North Carolina? Stanford?
That makes them just like every single other top-10 team in the nation. Why do the computers have ND so high since, according to you, they have such a weak schedule...? Hmmmm...?edgecy said:The truth of the matter is ND has always played nobodies for the majority of their schedule.
That's a great example - but their tough schedule is a product of the fact that the SEC is very tough this year. Their non-conference schedule includes such creampuffs as Central Florida, Southern Miss and the mighty mighty Western Carolina Catamounts (!).edgecy said:I will give you one team who has a tougher schedule, and this is just off of my head: Florida. They had to play LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee... and those are just the SEC games. Florida has played 3 Top-15 teams, while ND has played only 1 Top-15 and that was Michigan, granted they have not yet played USC.
Like I said... learn a little bit more about college football and you'll learn how wrong you are... Notre Dame's computer average is #8, but their "people polls" average is 10... given that little fact, pretty tough to make the argument that the coaches and sportswriters are biased in ND's favor, huh..?edgecy said:So, in conclusion, perhaps you should follow college football some more before even attempting to call me out on it.
