Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that neither referee Walt Anderson nor any members of his officiating crew will be disciplined for the way they handled a series of events at the end of the first half.

1. Inconsistent punishments
2. Allowing officiating to affect the outcome of games
3. Adding more and more subjective rules

I don't think there is a direct correlation, but many of the attributes of those with high character lend themselves well to competence.

Walt Anderson owns the NFL front office. He knows the true story about what went on in Defamegate. He was part of the conspiracy. Nothing is ever going to happen to him. He knows where all the bodies are buried, figuratively. The NFL does something he doesn't like and he might talk. They need to keep him happy.
