OT: Trent Green Seriously Injured

Seriously. Green must retire. He has to think about his own future. The multiple concussions are horrible.

Yeah, it's a shame but that'll be a wrap on his career.

I felt the same way about Steve Grogan at the end. After a game with the Bills, one of there defenders was asked if he took it easy on Grogan when he sacked him and his response was that "of course I did, no one wants to be the guy who hits him and sees him never get up".

I HATE injuries, that is the worst part of the NFL.

Grow up, loser.
Who the hell are YOU newby. Have you read any of my other posts or are you judging me on entirely on this one. With 34 posts I doubt you know what goes on,on this board. What I wrote about Green is mild compared to what I've seen written by other people. It wasn't directed at the player but at a troll. But still I shouldn't have written it. When I'm wrong unlike the vast majority here I'll admit it, We'll see in the future how much integrity YOU have. I'll be watching.

Trent is a very articulate person too. I really hope he decides to retire from this rough game. He's done enough in his career, and he should be financially set.

Bad news about Green. I hate to see it.

Dierdork says "If Webster has a definition for competitiveness, it would be Trent Green."

wtf? Webster does have a definition for "competitiveness." I can't stand this guy. He is soooo stooooooooopid!!

Yeah, I have to admit, Green trying to make a tackle at this point, while an impressive feat of fortitude, is an idea desperately lacking in the intelligence department.

A man's neurological health rises far above the importance of a football game. I wish and pray that Trent is ok.

well Trent Green needs to retire after this season.

If he plays next season and almost gets killed again, then this is just getting ridiculous.

I think Trent needs to retire now. Hoipefully he was smart with his money and set up for the rest of his life. He should think about his health. The Fins aren't going anywhere and even if they were it's only a game and he has about 50 years of life ahead of him. the quality of life shouldn't be compromised by trading one nfl yr for 50 years of quality life. It's not worth the risk

Watching NFLN now, Cam Cameron is saying Green will fly back with the team. So good news there.

regardless of your intent, your original comment was in very poor taste. If that's what it takes to get a post count above 1500, I hope I never get there. Jumping on the new guy is like coming home from work and kicking the dog because you had a bad day at work.

Hope for the best for Trent green.

Just had to comment on that insipid commentary. Why can't they get announcers who either call the game, or are literate?

If Dierdoof checked, he might find Webster's has a definition for just about everything. Duh!!

Why not just give down and distance and tell us who made the tackle?

Why these oafs believe they have some pearls of wisdom or witticisms to offer is beyond me. You got through school because you could play football, doof, you're not freakin' Mark Twain.

I seriously turn the sound down until they snap the ball, just in case they might give some information of what's happening on the field.

If Webster's had a definition for "Dan Dierdorf", it would probably be "didactic walrus-like being, frequently found with dark-skinned human that resembles a cabbage-patch kid."

Much like Gannon, Young, and Aikman he needs to call it a day one to many blows to the head. I think this is it for him.

Lemon didnt look to bad for a youngster thrown to the wolves.

He's traveling back with the team...Glazer said post game that he had talked to Green before and that he knew if there was another concussion..he might need to retire...so...it is out there..wish him the best!!!

I think he needs to retire now. It's just way too much, what he is doing to himself. He needs to think about his future here. Way too scary.

I was going to post the same thing. If he can't bring himself to do it, the NFL should do something. I never thought I'd say that, but he's on a team going nowhere. I'd hate to think that he will have to have someone wipe the oatmeal off his chin at age 40.

The announcers were really bad. Gumbel constantly screwed up on player's names and downs. At one point he said something like, "so-and-so is in for a first down! ...wait...that's back to the line of scrimmage." A little pause then we hear. "1st and 10 after that play!"
Then he's got that idiot next to him who spurts out platitudes and cliches after each play. Dierdork is not didactic; he's just eneducated and stupid. I don't mean to be so uncharitable to people, but he is the worst color commentary man in football, and he makes me cringe.

Keep looking on the bright side, Aqua, because the real side is very ugly!

You blew this out of proportion. I appreciate the concern but Cam Cameron said that when he spoke to Green in the hospital, it was as if nothing had happened. For Trent's sake, I pray he's okay, but for the Dolphins sake, I hope he doesn't play again this year. I can't wait for the John Beck era.

Yes. But this wouldn't be the first time that NFL coaches have minimized the seriousness of concussion because they have an interest in seeing a player back on the team. In rugby, when a player has a concussion, he has to sit out for three weeks -- and no nonsense about whether the concussion is "major" or "minor". The NFL's doctors have, by contrast, been far too reluctant to assert the interests of their patients, rather than following the interests of the team. For a guy who has already had one serious brain injury to continue playing after another strikes me as folly.

Oh, and in other news, I don't think that Dierdorf referring to Green as the definition of competitiveness is too bad. What about the announcer who was covering the Colts-Bucs game who said (and indeed repeated) that Jeff Garcia's "unmeasurables are off the charts"? Now that's what I call stupid.

One other thing I have to add--I dunno about you, but personally, I think that being called for taunting an unconscious person should be grounds for ejection.

Competitiveness or no, Trent Green wasn't even moving at the time.

It was unintentional, so there won't be any suspension (and probably not even a fine) over the hit itself, but if I coached Houston, I'd fine him a game check (minimum) for that post-hit #@!#.
