OT: Trent Green Seriously Injured

So his head hit the knee instead of his shoulders. You do go for the knees, though; the fact that his head hit was the more the result of a) him being a quarterback who can't block and b) the other guy moving too. It looked like he meant to put his shoulders into the knees, which is what you're supposed to do and would accomplish the same thing without the cracked spine.
If you're trying to low block someone, you put your pads on their thighs, those are harder to get out of the way and are protected by muscle. If you're trying to trip someone up, you aim for the shins. Only malicious or untrained coaches would ever teach their players to block knees.

We are agreed that Trent Green didn't mean to use his helmet, but that doesn't make Travis Johnson's reaction somehow less valid.

I think you'll agree with me that Green wasn't maliciously intending to injure Johnson; he meant to hit him low to block him out of the play, not hurt him. His helmet got jarred around and blasted by Johnson's knee. Johnson can be upset and seethe, but his reaction was over the top.

Calling it "karmic" as Gumby did is just wrong.

I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading. After watching Rodney Harrison play 4 years in New England you would think the hit Green laid yesterday was as far from a dirty hit that there has even been.

no one cares about your opinion.

Trent Green hurt his head. He hurt his head because he threw a low block, using his head, into a player's knee on the other team.

The other player didn't even see it coming.

Trent Green hurt himself, end of story.

Now pay that charity
