What if I told you that KC was blown off the field because Mahomes didn't rise to the moment and dug them in a hole more than the rest of the team failing.Still, it was a close game. It really came down to one play. KC was blown off the field, embarrassed, put down like an old, mangy dog. Not one of the Brady era Pats’ SB losses was embarrassing.
Basically, the Chiefs were physically and mentally destroyed by the Eagles.
I'd probably put the 80s-90s 49ers in ahead of the Cowboys, to be honest. The NFC was an absolute gauntlet back then (85 Bears Bears, Taylor Giants, Gibbs Redskins, etc)Eh. The Chiefs dynasty is still one of the best ever. Seven straight AFCCG means something. 3 out of 5 in superbowls too. Packers and Browns were good in a vastly different era. I’d say the best modern dynasties are:
1: Steel Curtain Steelers. 4 of 6 in superbowls. The Patriots are number 1 if you count their entire run.
2: 2010s Patriots.
3: Ongoing Chiefs dynasty.
4: 2000s Patriots. This one easily switches to 2 or 1 is they win 07.
5: 90s Cowboys.
That’s fair. I still think the top four are locks though. Too bad we didn’t win in 07. If we did I don’t think it’d be possible to surpass our dynasty.I'd probably put the 80s-90s 49ers in ahead of the Cowboys, to be honest. 40 points. 7 off a Mahomes pick 6. 7 points of a redzone pick from Mahomes at the Chiefs 14. 3 points of a Mahomes fumble at I believe the 18 or 19 where the Eagles are already in field goal range. That's 17 of 40 points off Mahomes just panicking.
If I told you the Chiefs defense held the Eagles to 23 points and shut down Barkley most people would think they had a good night and probably won.
At halftime the score would have been 10-0 if Mahomes wasn't blowing it. There was a point in the 4th where the chiefs were driving and the score would have we'd be saying "if they score here it's an 8 point game".
The difference was Brady didn't kneecap the team and make a bad situation worse in 2007. This loss was a lot more on Mahomes than the stat sheet will ever show.
Against the Bucs you could at least say his entire line was on IR and he was fighting his ass off and making amazing plays and his receivers were dropping them. Here he just played awfulMahomes looked the worst he has in awhile, potentially in his career? Even against the Bucs he had yards, just couldn't get a TD.
And until that second pick six, he wasn't being bailed out by the refs (much).Against the Bucs you could at least say his entire line was on IR and he was fighting his ass off and making amazing plays and his receivers were dropping them. Here he just played awful
You forgot the 2016 team.I hope I get to see an undefeated season in my lifetime. And I hope it's the Patriots.
I think if you had the 2007 team today... A healthy 2015 team today...This lull in competition is ripe for an undefeated season. Which is why the 07 season is insane because that was NOT an easy league at the time.

The 2004 Pats team alone would smack the hell out of any of the Chiefs dynasty era teams. Putting the Chiefs above that Pats era is sacrilege around these parts.Eh. This ^He was kneecapped by his own offensive line. I know enough about OL play to understand what KC was doing wasn’t quality OL line play.
Was Mahomes good enough? No. But the Chiefs didn’t belong there. They magically received some interesting help to get there. He had no time.
You mean 3 out of 5. The Chiefs didn’t win it in the 2020 or 2021 seasons. This ^
Some fans put entirely too much on the QB.
Mahomes hasn't changed at all from the last five years when he was winning 3 out of 4 Super Bowls... his team changed.
It was never entirely about Mahomes, it was never entirely about Brady.
QB's don't block, they don't play defense, they don't play special teams... it's a team sport.
I was talking about the five years prior to this one... not this one.You mean 3 out of 5. The Chiefs didn’t win it in the 2020 or 2021 seasons.
Year 1: 2019 - Chiefs (that’s 1 out of 1)I was talking about the five years prior to this one... not this one.
The notion that Mahomes lost his magic, or changed for the worse is garbage.
His team got worse, and they met a better team in the playoffs.
In the mind's of some fanboys... football boils down to one QB playing all alone against one QB on the other side... it's hero worship, ignorant nonsense.
This is a straw man argument, we were discussing Mahomes and what happened to him. Nobody said you can have a terrible QB under center and win a ring. Also with regards to QB, it is a team sport and it is not all about the QB. But we all know why QB’s are protected differently in the rules than the other positions on the field. It’s the most vital position of any to a team’s success. The hardest position to master in team sport. You can have the 1990s Dallas Cowboys offensive line but if you have J.P. Losman under center you aren’t winning much.
The 2014 Patriot's offense gave up the 4th fewest sacks in the NFL and ranked 3rd lowest in sack percentage... so wherever you got this 31st ranking is a garbage information site.BTW the 2014 Patriots ranked 31st in pass blocking. They got right at just the right time. It also helped having a field general like Brady under center to keep it together.
In 2021 the Chiefs lost to the Bengals in the AFC Championship game, they didn't make it to the Super Bowl.Year 1: 2019 - Chiefs (that’s 1 out of 1)
Year 2: 2020 - Bucs (now 1 out of 2)
Year 3: 2021 - Rams (now 1 out of 3)
Year 4: 2022 - Chiefs (now 2 out of 4)
Year 5: 2023 - Chiefs (now 3 out of 5)
Year 6: 2024 - Eagles
If we include this past Super Bowl, the Chiefs are 3 out of 6.
