OT- somewhat football related - interesting factiod - a perfect dead zone post

Just on my way to the gym (for first time in about 2 years ), and just happened to hear this from Holley and Dale. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe's Undisputed show had ratings of 0.00 in 20 cities across the country INCLUDING Boston.

I knew that the show wasn't going gangbusters, but THIS news was telling. I don't know if it's a Fox problem or that no one in their right mind would bother to listen to anything Sharp has to say, on ANY tiopic.

OK, that's it. Comment if you wish, add to the factoid with more info, or just have a good laugh. I'm off to the gym for day 2 of my personal comeback.

Fox Sports executive's business plan:

"Let's take on a bloated, aging, outdated medium, not by being different, but by simply duplicating our competitor is doing. That's the ticket!"



What is even sadder is that nobody questioned the plan - probably in part because Fox Sports is filled with former BSPN employees that don't know any other way of doing things.

I've never taken the time to learn the ratings system. Does a 0.0 mean that Nielson (or whomever the rater is) didn't detect a single TV viewer who was watching Skip w/ their survey?

I've never taken the time to learn the ratings system. Does a 0.0 mean that Nielson (or whomever the rater is) didn't detect a single TV viewer who was watching Skip w/ their survey?

It's rounded to the nearest tenth, so IIRC that means that no more than 0.05% (i.e., 5 out of every 10,000) of TVs in that market were tuned to the show. Also, the Nielsens are based on a sample, not actual measurements (i.e., if you don't have a Nielsen box, they don't know what you're watching on your TV—though they may have access to stuff you watch from your DVR).
