This has nothing to do with anything Pats related and I know this isn’t where this post belongs.

But, the draft is done, camp is months away, and I’m a pretty decent guy.

I want to travel for 7-8 days next March. Warm weather is important to my family, yet not spending all my time on a beach or drinking is my priority. Most of Europe is still chilly, much of the Caribbean is party beach oriented.

Inspire me ! My points are burning a hole in my pockets.

1) Where in the (assuming) US are you traveling from (NSEW/Middle).
2) How far are you willing to travel?
3) What kind/quantity of points/miles are we talking about here?
4) What does warm mean to you? 80s? 70s?
5) What's been your best vacation memories?

Central America is more than beaches. There’s rain forests and different areas. I think it’s the perfect blend for that amount of time.

There is never a bad time to visit Italy, and in March you will find it quite nice in the southern Greek Isles and/or Crete.
I’ve been to Italy a few times, and while I love it - I am likely looking to branch out a bit. Crete is on my very short list already, I wonder if that makes sense. I’m going to do some research on the possibility of getting in and out in March 2025.

Good call ! Thx.

I am in Nova Scotia, which complicates things on several fronts. Including my access to destinations, due to the size of Halifax airport and their penchant for offering seasonal flights. Positioning is possible, but adds time and such.

-early March is brutal and I am risk averse : weather can (and usually will) disrupt things
-“far is relative” : I just can back from Manhattan for a few days and a month ago I was in Japan. Which I think is quite far from home. But a “March Break” trip doesn’t allow me, as a teacher, to be away forever and thus distance could be a major factor.
-I travel on points once or twice a year and I’m pretty proficient at restocking
-I googled Fahrenheit : 70 is 21C which is quite good for a Canadian ! If it’s fun, I think 65 would suffice ! That’s T shirt weather for us in March !
-so so many… Provence, Malta, Tokyo, Barcelona, Napoli, Budapest & more… I can’t remember a bad trip ! I guess the Mediterranean & Japan stand out.

Thanks for input and interest !

Cant swim in Crete in March.

Sure, you may get 85 degrees by chance, but the water will be frigid. I'd skip.

Go to Peru and visit Machu Pichu, or Argentina/Patagonia. I went to Uruguay and lived like a king down there, the US dollar goes very far, you eat well, and it's a beautiful country.

Bolivia is my favorite country in South America but it's not for everyone. It is the most beautiful though, has by far the best people, great culture, but it is also very poor and you have to plan for how you are going to eat and drink (in other words, if you have a soft constitution, it's not the best eating/drinking).

I considered it ! I wonder where would be best. I’m not a nature guy, but the fam is…. Costa Rica ? Is Columbia safe ?

Costa Rica is what I was thinking of, although I want my next trip to be to roatan, Honduras. I think Columbia is hit or Miss right now, although that is also someplace that’d I’d like to travel.

Costa Rica
Beaches
River tubing
National Parks for wildlife
March is a good time to go

Colombia is fine. Cartagena is a very nice destination.

I was going to mention Iceland as it's beautiful but not warm. I'd like my next trip to be Scotland, also not warm but a lot to see.

Go to the Galapagos Islands. March would be a good time to go

switzerland
check out Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald, it looks like a film there and it will burn a hole in your bank account

Portugal is beautiful as well, great beaches, Lisboa is a nice city

South Carolina. It's a beautiful state, beautiful getaway from the crowds of snow birds that flock to Florida. I'd look into the Carolina.

Costa Rica is nice but crazy expensive compared to ten years ago. Nicaragua is a better adventure for your money. Surfing plus live volcanoes. Parts of Panama especially the Canal is impressive. Palawan in the Philippines is excellent…Great beaches … friendly people and the right prices… Wanna blow your mind head to Cambodia, Anchor Wat will leave ya speechless. Hanoi is one of the coolest places I’ve been to, but that time of year it’s 15-18 Celsius. Head to Tahiti, moorea or bora bora if ya want to spend the bucks !! New Zealand actually reminds me of Canada and Canadians … very similar vibe …

We have a direct flight to Iceland during the summer season. For that reason alone; I can’t see choosing March and galavanting all over central Canada when I can take a 4h flight from Halifax !

I do like the way you think, though, as Iceland is on my list for the next few years.

I love Europe. And that has been a continent I’ve travelled extensively during the last decade.

My family lives in NS, Canada. There is no way I’d be able to convince them to go from snow to snow ! Hahaha. We absolutely hate winter now.
