Re: Fred Taylor to the Pats in '09?

I really wish this team could find a workhorse back in his prime, not recycled backs. Yes, I know I'm still waxing poetic about the time we had Curtis Martin, a 3rd round steal who was a true workhorse back for this team for three seasons.

Isn't that what people said about A. Smith and Corey Dillon and look how that turned out. He's a worth a shot.

Yep. I'm going to go ahead and change my tune now from what it was when I posted in this thread. Now I'll answer yes. Toward the end of the season, Taylor started to look better. Not much better, but a little better. And, when you consider what kind of line he was running behind, I think a change of scenery to New England might do him some good.

So yes, I'm eating crow and changing my opinion.

so your contadicting yourself.

If we're going to demand consistency from board members, then this site is going to lose a lot of people very quickly.

I think was a lame pun based on his screen name... but... nvm.

Especially when NFL fans are some of the most inconsistent people on the face of the planet.

Bingo.

Re: Fred Taylor to the Pats in '09?

Oh, no doubt, having those recycled backs (Smith and Dillon) leading the way helped.

Did you ever think that maybe a star back isn't a wise allocation of cap space? The top guys make $10M a year, and with how easy it is to find a good back, I'm not sure any of them are worth it.

While Jax line was patchwork, MJD still ran for 4.2 yards per carry, a decline of .4 from the previous year. That makes sense considering him having to carry more of the load. Fred Taylor, on the other hand, dropped from 5.4 ypc, to 3.9.

Considering Taylor's age, I'd say that a small amount was the line, and a large amount was his own decline.
