Found this old photo from another site of Fenway set up for a Pats game in 63. My first Pats game was there sitting right behind Pesky Pole.

i cant open it - either the martinis taking a toll on my cognitive abilities on this SNOWY night in late March, or the link is messed up.

I think I fixed it.

The Dolphins stadium still looks like that.

:bricks:

thats nuts
is it jus me or does it look like the pru is still bein finished or somthin

There's the famous "Buck Printing Company" sign, I always remember it looming over the field..

That is a sick photo... :rocker: :rocker:

It is weird seeing Fenway like that though... almost like it is being Violated! lol-

As long as Gillette Stadium is not violated....who cares. It's only baseball!

At least those Right Field Box seats are angled properly for Football. They're ridiculous for baseball, looking straight toward the Monster.

Soccer's not a violation?

Not unless they dig up the field turf to put a diamond in? A couple of yellow lines don't bother me. Besides, the best owners in the history of sports own both teams. That's like saying you're violating your driveway by parking a Mercedes next to a BMW.

I guess if Vanilla Ice came out of retirement to do a concert at Fenway you could call that a violation but back in the 60's and the 70's over 60% of the football teams played in baseball stadiums (or the other way around).

Owow, that's vintage! Good find dr,thanks for posting it.

good find with the photo

I can't stand the sight of a baseball field in the middle of a football field.

I know, there are still a few teams that have this every year (Miami and Oakland), but I think it is ugly.

NEM?

I used to go sit in the bleacher seats which were in the end zone. Saw some memorable Pats debacles there in Friday night games. Great broken beer bottle fights in the stands. Man, has my perspective changed.

I saw one game there, in '64 or '65 (I was about 11). Final game of the year against the Bills for the division crown. Heavy snow throughout the game, but not windy or real cold. Placed was packed and rockin'. We sat in the right field bleachers, near where they angle toward center. Massive snowball fights between center and right field bleachers.

Bills won 24-14. I remember Cookie Gilchrist throwing snowballs up at the fans when the Bills were huddling in our end zone, and their whole offense getting pelted. Nobody got thrown out in those days. The stands along the left field wall were tremendous seats, right on top of the action.

The Pru was still under construction in this photo.

Great picture, love the "skyline". I'm sure there are more then just a few members of this forum who have lots of old pictures and have access to scanners. Maybe a special section can set up for these?

I was at that game too. Unfortunately, post game 2 hoop buddies of mine were jumped and put in the hospital by thugs. They were good sized guys but outnumbered. I remember the snowball fights.
