Game Day Thread Official Preseason Game Day Thread- Pats @ Giants

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Lastly, we have never allowed promoting the use of any illegal streaming. This is illegal and will be enforced by copyright holders, which puts this site at risk. DO NOT POST ANY LINKS to those platforms.

This also means, there absolutely cannot be any mention these platforms, spaces, special characters, etc. - so do not get creative in trying to work around this request.

If you do you will have your account suspended.

I do not have the means to deal with legal issues and have already been contacted previously, so this absolutely needs to be adhered to. If you see any illegal links, please report them so a mod can remove them.

Too often imo. I would be concerned (like if he was near / dear to me).
I have it on good authority he's a big wine and whiskey guy

It’ll be unpopular : I like Bentley. I think many posters discount him based on 2020. This year, with much better players around him, I think he’ll be a solid contributor.

Do we really think there's a chance Gunner DOESN'T make the team? Dude was an elite returner last year, would feel very silly to get rid of him in favor of keeping a WR who might be 20% better than him. I don't even think Gunner has looked bad as a WR, just still developing. Needs to get his hands in a better place, needs to learn the routes better. He was a freakin corner in Division II, it'll take time.
With those hands I can see why.

It was Joe Judge who was very effusive of his praise of Matt Slater.
It was, but also the broadcasters were as well commenting on his playing ability as a special teams ace and "always making plays".

Not a minority he’s stepped up.

Observations from today:

1.) offense - newton is beyond horrible, but Jones is not ready to start yet.
the running game looks awesome.
not a lot of check downs or tight end throws by newton. Is this on purpose?

2.) defense - on pass plays, the rush looks awesome. Runs up the middle, we look soft still. Secondary needs a starter opposite c jackson.

He's played with the ones every preseason game and has not looked out of place.

Some people just stick to their guns on certain players (Williams is another one) despite the fact that every circumstance is different and players can and do change (to the better and the worse) depending on myriad factors such as their role, the players around them, coaching, self and external motivations, etc, etc, etc.

Remember - Kevin Faulk was never going to cure his fumbling. James White was always going to "go down on first contact". Edelman is just another Bill Belichick special teams draftee - there are a hundred other examples.

You're not unpopular. Now that we have Hightower back, Bentley can go back to his natural position as the Will.

He has that ruddy bloated look that a lot of heavy drinkers have.
Yep. No question he works out and watches his diet but consumes a ****load of sugar. His face is a dead giveaway

BB naming Cam the starter...

Cam Newton finding out he's the starter...

Mac Jones finding out Cam is the starter...

Us fans trying to tell BB to start Mac...

When Mac Jones finally starts...

He's lost weight. He's quicker out there imo. He could be poised for a decent year

@Ring 6, you weren’t kidding with the JJ Taylor and Danny Woodhead comparison. Not only does Taylor seem to play like him on the field, but just watching his presser he had the same general look and personality about him. He could pull off that Modell’s sketch….

They regularly carry 3-5 of "those types of players". What you have to ask yourself is whether or not Brandon King out-played Bolden in practices/. King and Bolden line up at the same STs position on punt coverage. And, we'll agree to disagree in regards to Olszewski being strictly a STs player. He's your 5th WR. He's lined up inside and outside during practices and pre-season.

You can't just says it's between player X and Player Y if they don't have positions in common.
BTW, It's a lot less likely for Belichick to keep 5 RB + Jakob Johnson. And Johnson adds a lot to the offense in terms of his blocking ability. He also brings some pass catching ability out of the backfield.

Can you point to a season where Belichick started the season with 5 RBs AND a FB on the Roster?
They HAVE to keep Bolden now as a RB option. Look at tonight JJTaylor looked great running the ball from scrimmage, but the way he runs I don't expect a long or healthy career., You need to have more. James White isn't the answer from scrimmage, so he they need to have 4 guys.

BTW- is it legal for say Bolden or Hoyer, get to the PS, but with their full pay? I don't see anyone claiming either, so other than ego, it wouldn't matter a bit if they were on the PS or the roster. But both would be available should an injury happen at those two position. Just askin'

Was on a road trip during the game so tried to listen to the game on SiriusXM. The Pats radio team (Zo & Bob) are horrible, in no way could you follow what was happening in the game. Never told basic stuff such as down, distance, field position, who was on the field, etc. They acted like two guys drinking beer, watching the game on TV and commenting on plays (nice catch, he should have had it.....). New England deserves better. I switched to the Giants broadcast to at least be able to follow the action (though according to the NY team, the Pats committed a penalty on every.single.play).

No, they changed that with the last CBA. Practice squad guys can only receive practice squad salaries. NFL vet PS guys make more than others, but it’s still less than the NFL minimum.
