I was listening to WEEI today and the host of one program had an interesting perspective, he thought that the patriots went into detroit thinking they would be able to try some stuff out but instead walked into an ambush. the patriots were there to try different things and see what they could get out of guys like tate, ochocinco, yateman and smith, but the lions were there to show something to the world.

what started as a practice game quickly turned into a real game without a scheme for the patriots. that explains how bad they looked on defense, but that O-line really had no excuse for why they played so bad.

Interesting take.

I really hope that theory is the case. I haven't had a chance to watch the game off my DVR as I was at my sister's wedding last night. Did follow the score on the NFL app on my Droid... and yeah...... I was trying not to vomit wedding cake as I saw the Lions keep scoring and scoring.

The first defensive play...Pats blitz and Detroit counters with a screen pass.....I gave myself a silent "Oh sh*t....Detroit has come to play". Then the worry set in....BB's new 4-3 package can't cover screens....ahhhhhhh.......a effing deep bomb..........where's the safety......aaaaah.....why can't we get tall WRs..........ahhhhhh..........Butlerrrrrrrr.....ah shttttttt. Hey....NASCAR is on....coooooool.....Go Daddy commercials So what was the final score.
By the way, I'm told the new college drinking game is chug each time Brady adjusts his hair on camera. And pound a fifth of Beam if he attends a presser wearing a wide flair collar triple breasted trench coat with tilted chapeau.

i agree about the oline, but when you put a rookie in nate solder and rich ohrnburger against that lions D, there are going to be protection issues. i thought the oline as a whole allowed the offense to move the ball down the field on the first two drives of the first quarter.
