Not a joke, but possibly a tragedy. McClellin said yesterday that he wants to continue playing football. Personally, I think he should be in a permanent CTE protocol with all the concussions he's suffered.
I think he should also be in a permanent Sucks Ass protocol, because I wouldn't want him here at that contract even if he had suffered Zero concussions.

Very little cap room to work with at this point:

-$5 million for rookies
-$5 million emergency funds
-$5 million leftover

They might also be looking at re-doing Gronk’s contract so that’s going to eat up more cap space.

Any Gronk restruture would almost certainly be an extension that would reduce his 2018 & 2019 cap hits by $3M-$4M/year (and balloon his 2020 & 2021 cap hits).

Yes, and he did so by going down the choke road, as if there's only perfect and choke, and nothing in between, because all failures can be looked at as chokes. It was a very stupid argument. I tried to be polite enough not to say that. Congrats on you, I guess for bringing it out of me, by not seeing his argument for what it was.

Way to be an idiot, Deus. But then, that's your modus operandi when you think that you know what you're talking about and you really don't. That's why you got into it with me and blocked me after I showed you to be a fool.

You never "try to be polite". You go out of your way to try and embarrass the crap out of people. That's been your schtick ever since you graced this board with your presence.

While we were all blown away by the $15.5 million per year number, the actual structure of the deal is fantastic for Solder too. He gets $22 million cash in year one and $35 million in the first two, all guaranteed except the workout bonuses. Even if the total money was the same (which I do still doubt), the cash in the first two years and/or guarantees could have been vastly different.

It's why I've said it's a 2+2 deal. There is no guaranteed money in 2020 and the Giants can release him with a June 1st designation and take only a 4M cap hit for 2020 and 2021.

Not trolling you 50 but BB Rookies don't have good track record coming off injuries. Sad we never saw Rivers play Jelks knees are a mash unit. Tony Garcia needs to put a Ton of weight back on. That's two Third Rounders who are definite question marks going into year two. With our current situations on O and D we could be Drafting those Identical positions again... the more the merrier I guess.

Everyone keeps saying that "Garcia needs to put a ton of weight back on". However, what people are overlooking is that we don't know when that 260 lbs number was taken. Just "during the season". That could have been October. It could have been December. If it was October, then he will have had 10 months to put it back on by the start of training camp. EASILY doable. If it was December, that makes it 8 months. It's doable, but not as easily..

People are making the assumption that all the weight that was lost was muscle. That's a false assumption to make.

Garcia may or may not be ready. We won't know until Mini-Camp how he's doing, possibly even the start of Training camp.

I didn't see this posted here.... possible explanation for the Bengals signing of Preston Brown and for the trade rumors to the Raiders.

No, actually they don't.

I can think of a few:

- Cyrus Jones: Jury is still out on him...could bounce back.
- Adam Butler: That was a good find last year. Could be better this year.
- Derek Rivers: Was looking good before he went down.
- Deatrich (sp?)Wise: Think he will be better this year.
- Eric Lee: Could be something next year.
- Harvey Langi: Could be something next year.
- Cole Croston: We wouldn't have kept him on the 53 man roster for no reason.
- Antonio Garcia: Let's see him put weight back on and go through camp.
- Philip Dorsett: Another year in the system could pay dividends.
- Kenny Britt: See above.
- Jacob Hollister: Thought he made some tough catches in limited appearances last year.

We have something to work with....2-3 of the guys above could have significant roles in 2018.

I don’t know if Gronk is going to want to play into 2020 and 2021. My guess is he wants as much money up front as possible given he may retire in the next few years. If I am his agent I would say no way to that contract offer.

And I thought it was because he would have more fun in Philly than he would under that mean former Patriots coach's regime in Detroit.

I used to be a fat dude...over 300lbs....(large frame though....6'1")...and gaining/losing 40 lbs. for guys that big is not that hard to do so.

Gaining 40 lbs. of muscle is another story though.....but not IMPOSSIBLE. Offensive Linemen rely more on weight/leverage/speed than brute strength though. And if Scars were YELLING at me...I think I'd bench press 50lbs. above my max for sure .

It’s getting ridiculous, isn’t it? If he is healed up, putting on 40lbs. isn’t an issue. At. All.

???

An extension would have all the guaranteed money in 2018 or at the very latest 2019. Gronk would get paid if he wants to play for 2 years. The last two years are cosmetic for cap purposes only. The contract would included a boss to be paid before the 2020 season started, so that a restructure would be required.

I kind of agree with your point, but he was underweight when he was drafted. He then lost 40 lbs. So, he has to gain 40+ lbs in 8 months? That is a tall order.
