If Bill stays I think there will 100% be some kind of “adjustments” to that role. Maybe a GM that reports to Kraft. But how significant the adjustments are, hard to say.

Yeah that is an issue. But if Bill was hypothetically given a directive that this is Mac’s year to prove himself in 2023 and he’s “the guy” regardless then Bill may have seen little sense in bringing in a vet that would cost a decent bit on their cap and also probably show up Mac in practice weekly.

I dunno, I think he might do it in his later years here. He knows he only has a couple of years left. One key factor may be if any teams who want him would be willing to give him GM powers. If no suitors want him for anything more than a straight HC then it makes sense for him to just stay in NE with a reduced rule instead.

Disastrous? It's the difference between pick #3 and pick #4... I mean it's a little dramatic... Worst case, the Pats could end up with Sam Perkins versus MJ23, but who really knows.

Someone could easily argue it’s the setup we already have. It’s not like BB is scouting the players himself. Every GM in the league confers with a coach to get the type of players that fit into the coach’s scheme
