Does anybody know why the Browns traded Bodden after five productive seasons and why Detroit released Bodden after starting all 16 games in 2008?
The trade for a 3rd and a DT by the Browns to Detroit at least looks like value for a starting CB. But Detroit just releasing him for nothing makes little sense with the value that proven CBs have in the NFL.
Now the Patriots walk away. There's more here than meets the eye.
As everyone has said, it's not like the Patriots have depth in the defensive backfield and there is zero monetary savings in releasing him after the trade deadline. That's another thing, if this were going South when BB dropped him down the depth chart, why not trade him for a middle to low-round pick?
No one from the defense uttered a word and Deion Branch was the spokesman for the players who stepped up with the 'it's a business" party line. My guess is the players wanted him out of the locker room.
This team, especially on defense, is coming together and there's no room for a bad apple as these guys continue the toughest part of the schedule until week 11 when the teams ahead soften considerably.
