For some reason, I read the article. My thoughts:
The state of sportswriting in this country has plummeted. Setting aside how this writer makes the usual vague accusations about cheating, etc, I just have no idea what the point of the article was.
None of the paragraphs was related to any of the others. He had no central thesis statement and didn't seem like he was trying to take a position on an issue. He just cobbles together a bunch of different, sometimes contradicting sentences and paragraphs.
This guy essentially vomited all over his keyboard and posted it on Sports Illustrated. He needs to go back to college and learn what an essay is. Writing is a lost art these days. Too bad.
