O/T: Patriots trivia

Thank you for the correction; I had forgotten that he was traded just a few months later, and not one year later.
Yeah Red traded him very shortly after winning the '84 Finals, and people thought it was weird.

For a pick two years down the road?

But Red knew Danny was ready to start. And, he saw the direction the Sonics were going.

And he had his eye on Len. Always looking ahead.

An integral part of two title teams.

Red's trade of him was really his magnum opus, in a career full of brilliant moves.

RIP Len
The moves that brought us Bird, Parish and McHale are right up there also.

Red is the person that Belichick fans think Bill is now, but it's not that close. No offense to Bill but his GM skills don't match Red's.

Walter Brown's passing ushered in an era of tremendously difficult ownership travails and headaches for Red. It's really tough owning the C's because they must pay through the nose to the Garden.

But, Red was a stubborn, determined guy who grew into a stubborn old guy, to our benefit. His competitive drive only increased, his experience and perspective allowed him to put up with and outlast some bad owners, and his tireless work for the community particularly around Brandeis and his appreciation and loyalty to team alumni is a legacy that matches his on court accomplishments.
