Ok, here are my thoughts after a half of a day of digesting this.
  • No way around this. This is a kick to the groin the way Kraft turtled on this. I know his options were not great, but he should have at least gone through the motions of an appeal. He wouldn't have won, but at at least he tried. Even Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder went through the motions to fight their penalties for cheating the cap in the uncapped year. They knew they weren't going to win, but at least they made the statement that they weren't going to lay down either.
  • I am hurt, saddened, pissed off, angry, disheartened by Bob Kraft and how he put League first. I will be mad at him for a really long time, but I still cannot turn on him. This is still the man who took a joke of a franchise on it's way to out of town to St. Louis and turned it into a four time Super Bowl winner and the premiere franchise in the league.
  • I never thought Kraft would take this too far. He still has too much respect of the League, probably way, way too much respect for the league. He will always put league first.
  • I kinda wish that Kraft let Jonathan handle this. Bob was out of his element here. He has been successful in business building compromises and conciliations. Jonathan tends to be the attack dog for the team when necessary. He seems to be more of a fighter than Bob is and probably would have fought this fight harder and better.
  • Kraft just made Goodell more powerful than he has ever been. The tide was turning a bit. People were finding big holes in the Wells report and the feeling was, even among people who thought the Pats did it and deserved to be punished, that the punishment went way too far. Kraft just caving just showed that even the most powerful owner in the league can feel that he was railroaded by Goodell and he will just take it after throwing a temper tantrum.
  • If Kraft fell on his sword to protect Brady as it is being speculated, I can admire that. I don't agree he should have just given up completely to protect Brady, but Brady is so important to this team's history. I would give Kraft some credit that he made protecting Brady legacy as much as he could over his and the team's needs.
  • I am saddened by the fact that Bob Kraft has ruined his legacy in this town with his move today. Around the league, he was always the drunk owner of the Cheatriots but he was a god in this part of the world. Right now, he is the least popular sports owner in this town. I think this will be his biggest loss, his legacy in Boston sports. Now not only do non-Patriots fans hate him, there will always be a portion of the Patriots fan base who will always hate him.

Bob Kraft forever showed his hand in business.
His threats are just idle bombast.
Nobody should ever in a negotiation take him seriously again.
He'll cave.
Just find the pressure point.

Tried telling you guys he's all about money, money comes first team comes second. He was never gonna go after what made him such a wealthy man.

I'm too exhausted (by this and other things) to really carry on.

but, I did turn on ESPN/NFL just to see how the media was reacting (not something I'm proud of or do too often) and I was surprised at how "positive" they were treating Kraft. I wonder if this was part of the backroom deal, that the media spin the narrative (as I suspect they'll do whatever the NFL wants...within reason).

Kraft could have gone into the next CBA as the guy who can split the middle. A man who has fought for the players but stands for the owners as well. Now he's just the ultimate company man. Someone who would screw the GOAT for the league wouldn't blink an eye at screwing every other player.

More like they know he hung his franchise out to dry and they are celebrating him for it.

Your reluctance to go to ESPN was the correct way to feel.

Hi Rob. We've all been there. Step 1 is the hardest.

Kraft has just stabbed every Patriot past and present in the back. They will forever be tainted by this!

The only one who has every screwed the Patriots, more than Kraft did today was Benedict Arnold!

I'm now in the hate club. And can this possibly help Brady's? At least in fighting it he would have put pressure on the league by making them fight on two fronts. And he just might have turned up something that would have helped Brady. Now Brady is on his own. Look he abandoned us. Anyone who doesn't get that is like a battered spouse who can't leave.

Even if he lost, at least it would have been a spirited fight for what's right instead of a pathetic acceptance of guilt over ****ing air pressure in a football and the laws of physics.

Disagree. I'll never forgive Kraft. I've had to defend this piece of garbage constantly since Myra passed away. Starting with him dating before his ex-wife's body was even cold, then his pathetic response to Goodell's two game suspension of Ray Rice for BRUTALLY knocking out his girlfriend.

Now we get showered with asterisks because our own owner basically legitimized them in the view of the public.

  • I never thought Kraft would take this too far. He still has too much respect of the League, probably way, way too much respect for the league. He will always put league first.
Yeah, because he's a total putz. We have the Director of Operations for the NY Jets launching a rogue sting operation against the Patriots, supporting the Colts tampering with footballs on the sidelines, and purposefully releasing FALSE INFORMATION to ESPN to smear our team and drag us through the mud, while giving the Patriots the factual PSI numbers under freaking NDA.

Kraft is pathetic. He's like a battered wife that keeps coming back for more. His `go along and get along` ******** sounds extremely pathetic when there's a concentrated effort by the league office to destroy our future and tarnish our past.

  • Kraft just made Goodell more powerful than he has ever been. The tide was turning a bit. Which is probably exactly why Goodell caved. He did it to protect the `integrity` of a league office that has none. If he went to court all of the dirty little secrets regarding Framegate would have come to the surface. He would rather we take it in the face than that come to pass.

  • If Kraft fell on his sword to protect Brady as it is being speculated, I can admire that. Brady is paramount to the team and to the team's history. His contributions are such that they transcend his career. If he's tarnished with this ********, the Patriot Dynasty means nothing.

What are the 49'ers if Montana came out tomorrow and said he used steroids and broke 50 rules and cheated to win every game? They're not what they are now, that's for sure.

Kraft better get booed. That's all I have to say. I want him to hear the disdain we have for him for the rest of his life.

Kraft may have helped himself among the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters but he may never make it to the Patriots Hall of Fame for some time.

I miss being a football fan pre-internet and before the proliferation of sports networks. It was easy, it was innocent, it was fun. Now, despite all the success of our team, it feels like work. It's stressful. People care too much, which makes me care too much. I need to become a more passive fan, but this game and this league have their claws in me. It sucks sometimes.

It appears that almost everyone missed (the significance of) the language that Kraft used in regards to collectivism over individualism. The significance of these words (and what they represent) should not be underestimated. FYI: this maps directly to the war on consciousness with the NFL (organisation) playing its part, as well. And the agenda attached to this specific item is much bigger than any one team or league. My question for you is this: Do you understand the significance of the collectivism over individualism bit? Do you understand the war on consciousness that is going on not just in sports, but in society? FYI: the whole collectivist bit going on everywhere is about the destruction of the individual...a tool of socialism/communism. And if you don't believe me, do some research...all there.

Just watched Quick Slants and I think Kay Adams made a great point. She criticized Kraft not so much for caving but, rather, for misleading us with all of his tough talk. The SB arrival day speech, the Wells in Context rebuttal, the interview just 48 or so hours ago with King as evidence. From my perspective, I would have been less disappointed if Kraft at least would have forcefully claimed innocence while capitulating. Honestly, he suddenly looked and sounded like a guilty, defeated, tired old man. Just really disappointing.

We have reached the point where the media supports Kraft more than the fans. Clearly, these fans should switch loyalties to an owner that can bring them more than Kraft has brought them.

I'm with ya Rob.. I feel hurt, pissed off, betrayed, and even a little.. deflated.. too soon? Seriously though, I care waaaaaayy too much about this team I think.. and I'm starting to hate that I love this game/league so much. Still contemplating my overall NFL fandom at this point, but I've definitely lost a whole lot of respect for Bob. I was ready to bring down Goodell and the league if necessary.

My only hope at this point is that Brady's suspension is overturned in such a way that makes the NFL and Goodell look really, really bad (to other people, not really just us obviously). I think we can get over the picks and certainly the million dollars. F the haters, F the rest of the league, I can get behind a pissed off Brady for 19 games on a F-U tour.

Mmmmm Kay Adams *drooling*

In regards to the NFL it means the league wants every kid to get a trophy and the Patriots can't dominate all the time. In other words, if you're too good, we'll chop you off at the knees.

This is the WWE. It isn't fair and honest competition anymore.

Didn't the league go after the 49'ers at the end, too?

And I seem to remember hearing stories about efforts to stomp out the Packers back in the Lombardi days.
