Nickel - 33 Stack - 3-Deep

With all the talk of us being a 3-4 vs the 4-3 ...

How about more discussion of the Nickel and Big Nickel which I think Belichick has been working on also the last few drafts. I think we spend a good amount of time in the 3-deep (umbrella) formation. Meriweather and Chung together for many snaps could be extremely useful. Our secondary this year barring injury could be as good or better than it was during our Super Bowl years if McCourty is NFL ready this year.

Is the Nickel and Big Nickel more relevant to our scheme than the 3-4 ???

I have contended this before, as BB knew how to use LT when he was the D coordinator for the Giants... and that effectively revolutionalized the OLB position... could he be morphing into a new innovative defense.. maybe it is time to revolutionalize the safety position as well.

The 33 stack may be a harbinger of things to come..
