5 interesting predictions each from Rob Rang and Chad Reuter of NFLdraftscout:

Double-team coverage: Bold draft day predictions - NFL - CBSSports.com Football

Rang's predictions:

1. Four OT's going in the top 10

2. Tyson Jackson being picked ahead of Aaron Curry: Considered by many to be the draft's safest player, most believe Aaron Curry will be the first defensive player selected Saturday. Most are wrong. Curry is the epitome of athleticism and character and fits into every defensive scheme in the game, but at 6-feet-2 and 254 pounds, he'd fit best in the 3-4 defense at inside linebacker -- the least valued position among the front seven. The earliest Curry is going to get drafted is fourth to the Seattle Seahawks. If the Seahawks go another route with the fourth pick, some believe Curry could slip out of the top 10. The defensive player flying up draft boards right now is LSU defensive end Tyson Jackson. He's not an explosive pass rusher, but has the bulk at 6-4, 295 pounds and scheme versatility to line up in both the 3-4 and 4-3. Considering the Chiefs' lack of a second-round pick due to the trade for quarterback Matt Cassel, don't be surprised if GM Scott Pioli adds Jackson, a virtual Ty Warren clone, with the third pick of the draft.

3. Cleveland will draft either Mark Sanchez or Michael Crabtree at #5. This is in contrast to reports from Tony Grossi that Cleveland soured on Crabtree at his recent visit. Crabtree has publicly said that he likes the Browns and would like to play for them.

4. Josh Freeman will go before the Jets pick at #17.

5. There won't be any trades within the top 10, but plenty of trades overall.

Reuter's predictions:

1. Oakland will take DHB #7.

2. Beanie Wells will be a top 10 pick.

3. Percy Harvin will fall out of the 1st round.

4. Michael Johnson will be a late 1st round pick.

5. Pat White will be a top 50 pick, most likely to New England at 47, or by the Broncos if they move ahead of the Pats.

I like White, I just don't see how we'd get #47 value out of him.

Well we seem to really like the kid judging the reporting on the subject, FWIW. And considering the way he threw the ball at the combine there's a chance that he represents a lot of value to us at 2 positions. If he's available at the right spot (who knows what that is) I'd bet money we draft him. But what do I know? :confused2:

I wrote earlier that it makes perfect sense for KC to take Jackson at #3, instead of Curry.

With Detriot apparently locked in on Stafford (why?) and St. Louis expected to go OT, that leaves KC with a pick they can't trade. Jackson makes great sense here and he is familiar with playing on the side of Dorsey.

I just don't know about Jackson. Seems a little lazy to me. Boom or Bust Prospect.

I've watched him for three years in the SEC and he reminds me so much of Ty Warren. I think Jackson projects as a solid 3-4 DE and should be able to pass rush a little as well.

1. Four OT's going in the top 10

Smith, Monroe, Oher and Smith?

2. Tyson Jackson being picked ahead of Aaron Curry: Considered by many to be the draft's safest player, most believe Aaron Curry will be the first defensive player selected Saturday. Most are wrong. Think we both established an agreement in this department.

3. Cleveland will draft either Mark Sanchez or Michael Crabtree at #5. This is in contrast to reports from Tony Grossi that Cleveland soured on Crabtree at his recent visit. Crabtree has publicly said that he likes the Browns and would like to play for them.

I don't see the logic having Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn and Mark Sanchez. The fact that not a single rumor has been heard about Quinn or Anderson being traded in the last week makes me think there is no fire here.

Crabtree is logical here if they are serious about moving Edwards to NY. Then they could use the NY pick to get a OLB/DE/DT. More so, I see them drafting Brian Orakpo, trading Edwards and drafting Kenny Britt with the Giants first round pick.

4. Josh Freeman will go before the Jets pick at #17.

To who? Redskins? Broncos?

I could understand the Viking taking Freeman here and letting him watch Sage and Jackson take reps.

5. There won't be any trades within the top 10, but plenty of trades overall.

Agreed. The talent isn't top heavy in this draft. At the same time, after pick sixteen, I see a bunch of question marks, reaches and otherwise second talent. That doesn't include the top two running backs.

1. Oakland will take DHB #7.

It would be a horrible move by them. Fast, yes. Skill receiver, unforeseen.

2. Beanie Wells will be a top 10 pick.

4 Offensive tackles, Beanie Wells, Stafford to the Lions, DHB to Oakland and Sanchez or Crabtree to Cleveland leaves two picks left in the top 10. Must mean that Curry, Raji and either Crabtree or Sanchez are out of the top 10.

3. Percy Harvin will fall out of the 1st round.

He needs to go to a team that has the offensive leaders in the locker room to keep him in line. Peyton Manning and Wayne can do that in Indy, along with Brady and Moss in New England. Just a thought. Otherwise, I think he fails and takes the team with him. Call him, Peter Warrick Jr.

4. Michael Johnson will be a late 1st round pick.

That guys neck is freaklishly long. Thats all I have to say about that.

San Fran is reportedly very high on Freeman.

Smith, Monroe, Oher and Smith?

Check.

Think we both established an agreement in this department.

Curry is a bit of a wild card right now, realistically going between 4 and 10. Who'd have thunk it a few weeks ago? And he's done nothing to hurt himself. It's just economic realities hitting home.

I don't see the logic having Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn and Mark Sanchez. The fact that not a single rumor has been heard about Quinn or Anderson being traded in the last week makes me think there is no fire here.

Rang thinks that Cleveland is still shopping Quinn. Obviously, they would have to move one of their 2 QBs if they were to consider Sanchez.

Crabtree is logical here if they are serious about moving Edwards to NY. Then they could use the NY pick to get a OLB/DE/DT. More so, I see them drafting Brian Orakpo, trading Edwards and drafting Kenny Britt with the Giants first round pick.

Todd McShay agrees with you, and sees Cleveland going defense at 5 and then drafting a WR at 29 if they trade Edwards, with the trade contingent on who they like being available. He says they favor Britt. Tony Grassi from Cleveland reports that the Browns were turned off by Crabtree's attitude and have crossed him off their list, though Crabtree has openly professed a desire to play for Cleveland and claims it was a great visit.

To who? Redskins? Broncos?

I could understand the Viking taking Freeman here and letting him watch Sage and Jackson take reps.

Per Rang, SF/Denver/Washington could all be players for Freeman, plus presumably TB or Minny trading up ahead of the Jets at #17.

I still think there will be trades in the top 10. The talent wasn't considered top-heavy last year as well, and we traded from 7 to 10. If someone falls to the 8-10 range such as Curry or an OT I could see teems jockeying to move up.

[DHB to Oakland at 7] would be a horrible move by them. Fast, yes. Skill receiver, unforeseen.

Mike Mayock predicted it a while back. I think I had it as a possibility in my March 15 mock. It would be a terrible move, but not a particularly surprising one given Crazy Al's history and love of speed.

Exactly. Someone's going to fall. And you're not even including the Tyson Jackson in the top 10 rumors. I think at least two of Curry, Raji or an OT could fall to the 8-10 range, at which point I would start to at least think about whether the value might merit getting involved. At 10-12 I would hope we would be right in the middle of things. That's close to what is usually considered the "sweet spot" of the 1st round in terms of value, and to get a potential top 5 pick would be a coup. We have the ammo if BB sees the value.

[Harvin] needs to go to a team that has the offensive leaders in the locker room to keep him in line. Peyton Manning and Wayne can do that in Indy, along with Brady and Moss in New England. Just a thought. Otherwise, I think he fails and takes the team with him. Call him, Peter Warrick Jr.

I think Harvin to the Colts would be deadly, and had him at 27 in several mocks. I also suggested that if he falls past 50 we might want to trade up from 58. I think that both organizations could keep him in line, and he would be an amazing weapon. But I agree with you, outside of a few situations he may be a ticking bomb.

[Michael Johnson's] guys neck is freaklishly long. Thats all I have to say about that.

Yes it is. And he can't play the run. That's all I have to say about him.

Pat White is just a winner. Football player.

That being said, I have no idea where he fits in.

If Belichick is thinking of running the wildcat, I can't think of a better player to run it than White.

In my mind, Pat White is one of those guys you just take because they are such a damn good football player. Once he's in camp, you get a real feel for the guy then build him into gameplans accordingly. Be that as an inside guy out of our ace sets, a single wing QB or whatever, he's just a flat out baller. On this team, under this coaching staff, he would be an invaluable situational asset.

I really don't think I'd go White before the 3rd round. Don't forget about O'Connell's running ability. Who the heck needs 2 guys like that?
