I guess I just don't see how someone who says nothing at length and then, when he does stumble into actually saying something, immediately contradicts it, or retracts it at the next opportunity, is the sort of leader one wants. I think people like him because he's "nice." I couldn't care less whether he's nice or not. I care about what he knows and what he can do. There's a lot of this these days - a pet peeve of mine, I will admit. People will say for example how "nice" their new doctor is, as if that has any bearing whatsoever on the quality of care they are likely to get. I find that foolish, childish. We live in the era of the ****eating grin and rampant happy talk, and I, as a certified curmudgeon, am annoyed.
They all seem to contradict themselves as well as each other. I guess it's their collaborative system at work.

My first thought was it wasn’t an accident and someone trying to be funny, then I remembered all the times autocorrect has overruled me.

If that hasn’t happened yet with Penix it is going to.

SB1 plans to buy that jersey

I’m hopeful that Mayo will be a good coach, but the sooner we can get away from the offseason stuff and get him on the field, the better.

I wish Mayo would stop thinking it’s all so cute and interesting, like we’re his parents and he’s reporting on his first day of kindergarten. Don’t tell me that Wolf has to help you because your reports are sloppy. Stop having nicknames and posing for photos with the owner. Do your job like it’s a job not theater camp.

He’s a little too wordy, better to be briefer/more concise

My confidence or opinion on him hasn't changed I just feel this idea that he's some open book is not right. Feels like what he's been open about didn't actually turn out the way he said.

Seems like the players are buying in so that's what is important right now. Xs and Os will be what makes or breaks him because it seems like the guys want to follow him now he's just needs to teach them correctly.
What I believe is Mayo's got Bill's principles in him when it comes to coaching and team building. What he has over any candidate that may have been out there is having been a player, and a coach under Bill. Not many can say that. It's a huge advantage. Mayo will be firm when he has to and push his players.

Mayo's a charming, smart and insightful guy. He will do things his way, and develop his own lane as a HC in the NFL.

The development of Drake Maye will be tied to he and Wolfe as the new regime has thier opportunity to get the organization back into contention. For me, as a fan I want to support Mayo and his staff because we want to see our team do well and start watching them in January instead of other teams in the playoffs.

Its appropriate for Atlanta.

Elton John has a home there.

I'll take the many years of leadership as the MLB in our defense and immediate elevation to LB Coach upon his retirement by BB to be worth a heck of a lot more than the distant musings after reading smoke signals of a certified curmudgeon.

We dealt with that for 24 seasons.. it worked when we were winning. Not now, need to have better media relations and letting the fans know that they care about how we feel. Mayo's fine what he's been doing. Hope it translates to the field.

The way I interpret mayo is he's being himself, he's speaking to the media and us as the fans to let us know what's going on. He's not here giving away game plans or thus acting like speaking to the media is giving away pentagon secrets like we become accustomed the last 24 seasons. This is the 2024 NFL not 1994. We are in a totally different era with young players needing guidance, and allowing to be grown as players, and as young men. In no way do I believe Mayo's taken shots at Bill as he's a Bill guy himself.

The team had an excellent draft, and my feeling is the players with resonate Mayo's message and principles to the field. As a coach I believe he will be more Bill like than people realize.

He will push players, hold them accountable, and allow them to grow. I get it thst some people may not like the jokes, nicknames ect. But speaking for myself you know what I didn't like more than that.. ? A 31st ranked offense, 4-13, missing the post season for consecutive seasons. Abysmal QB play.

I agree: he does not present himself as disciplined and competent. He may be both, but he lacks experience and may have taken on a role he isn't ready for. That's my impression and I very much hope I am wrong. We all have to give him a chance (no choice), but it's likely that the first few years are going to be bumpy. It's all speculation, however, which is what we do this time of year.

Yeah, I'll agree with this. I would expect a lot of coach-speak and Mayo-isms that do not fall far from the Belichick Speech tree. I don't think he's ever going to be a dour grump who grunts answers, but I am sure he sees the value of less is more with the media.
